We are taking the time to observe the day today, Monday, January 21, 2008.  It's a National Holiday that was fought for with SIX MILLION SIGNATURES & EIGHTEEN LONG YEARS!!!

We are not taking it lightly at Rice Property Management & Realty, and we encourage all to reflect on this day with us. There is much rich history in the legacy left by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  You are invited to join us as we remember!  The official website address of the King Center, http://www.KingCenter.org/ which may not be accessible due to traffic overload, is just ONE of many filled with background content of a past endured for the freedoms we are experiencing today.

Today marks the 40th year anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s death.  Many organizations have merged to honor Dr. King by having a Day of Service!  This is an excellent way to not only commemorate his memory, but to also carry out the purpose for having the Holiday!

"If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever."   1Kings 12:7

Diane,

Dr. King, in his famous 'dream speech', knew that America was a 'melting pot'...and it would take time before our nation would become real 'soup'...we're not quite there yet but you can begin to smell the beautiful aroma...! Keep the dream alive!!! Thanks,   Fran

I am so glad that you wrote this post.  Today is a day more people need to think about and really know the Dream.  So powerful.  We must ACT on it and not sit back.

Diane it is hard to believe that 40 years have past since his death.  I can still remember how unbelievable that new of his death seemed to me.  He had a great impact on what this country has become, but his DREAM is still not completed.  I hope that I see it become reality in my life time.

1 Kings 12:7 was a very appropriate verse to use in this Blog.

Diane~I love this post and when I think of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I will alway be reminded of all the good that he has done for our country.  When I was a kid I elected to do a report on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I put my heart and soul into that report and was so profoundly moved by his vision and strength to keep true to his beliefs. God bless you my friend and enjoy this beautiful week.

Fran:  It's what makes this nation what it is..... the PEOPLE who would dare STAND for something! It's ALWAYS worth the fight however long it takes and whatever means have to be sacrificed.  Thank YOU Fran for believing with me!

George!  Thank you!  I too long to see his dream come to fruition.... and the reality is, if we would all search deep within our hearts, it's what ALL of mankind honestly desires.... it's what we seek don't we?  Your observation of the scripture used is a blessing.  It's one of the mottos of our business.  GBU George!

Julie!  That's awesome!  Do you still have it??  Can you share? You have got to have one of the biggest hearts here at Active Rain!  It clearly shows you've been shaped from childhood - unmistakable child of the King!  Many just go along oblivious to the people who paved the way FOR THEM!  I'm grateful for a time granted to reflect - GOD is like that also - wants us to remember!  GBU Julie!

Diane~I'm certain I still have it in my box of treasures.  I will have to pull that out and look at it. I would be more than happy to share it with you. Truthfully, it was my most memorable report that I have done.  I loved learned about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Diane, I LOVED the scripture you used for this post.  It was oh so relevant.  I keep a prayer notebook and that is one that I need to include in my notebook.  I have put it on a sticky and I am going to put it in my notebook as soon as I finish typing here.  I have learned to do something when I think about it because a few minutes later that thought is gone (lol).

Marchel:  It was a delight to my heart to learn the scripture i used was such a blessing to you!!  It's one i've rehearsed for many years, and am humbly aware of it's importance!  If we could keep this in practice, we would not have to search for clients.  These words of wisdom from wise men were spoken to the new King (Rehoboam) after his father, Solomon died.  Too bad he did not take heed to it!  I don't want to be like that, so i keep the scripture as a reminder.  I'm glad to hear it's going in your prayer notebook too!

Diane, Rehoboam should have listened to his elders and not his young friends.  Dang that was when the nation split all because he listened to the wrong people.  Isn't it amazing how much smarter our elders get the older we get.

Yes, Marchel, we do see the smarts of our elders AFTERwe have gained a little wisdom ourselves!  Nowadays we're living in an "express yourself" generation - toooo many NOT listening to the RIGHT things..... scrambling up EVERYTHING.... then we look for someone to solve this mess.... they of course are just supposed to wave their wand... and ta-DUM!  Now, since we voted them in they should be "perfect" right?  Then, what???  Uh Oh, we discover that they have..... F L A W S!

....And so it goes, we then turn on them ready to instantly dismiss them and replace them with another "perfect" one.....

DANG!  Am i on a rant or what?  Look at what YOU started!  LOL!!  (May be that i'm tuning up my voting antennas)  Thanks for listening and have a great day!  (btw - do not pay attention to anything above that sounds incoherent!)

My Dear Friend! I've been away for the past week and a half...moving my office. I am so glad to see you back at AR posting. I can assure you that your presence and 'voice' is a vital part of this virtual place. This past week, I realized how very important it is that we lift up the name of Jesus here...as there are many others who wish to lift up other 'names'.

As far as this post...we must never forget that there have been those before us...those who were called and answered that call...who stood against the darkness...and with God's help...OVERCAME. BECAUSE of THEM...we live very different lives. God bless you, my friend!

Thank you for your support and understanding Elizabeth.  GBY 2

Diane,  We are not there yet!   The battle still has to be won in the hearts of man.   But we are getting there slowly!   It is an insult to the dignity of us all when a single person doesn't recognize that we are all brothers and sisters, regardless of the color of skin, or in my case, lack of hair.   Hang in there!   Jerry
