Elect DENNIS BURGESS ORRA Director 2013- It's results time

Well, here we go.  The 70+-day campaign for positions on our ORRA leadership team for the coming year culminates today- with this afternoon's announcement of who our members have chosen as our next Chairman-elect and the four folks who will assume Director positions.

I don't believe I won one of the Director positions.  That's not me really believing that I won- yet saying I don't believe I won for the benefit of others, mind you.  I truly believe I've fought a decent fight, but that my winning simply wasn't meant to be.

That said, my prayer until today's announcement won't be that God lets me win.  Rather, my prayer until the announcement- and indeed past it- will be that the Lord give me the grace to be truly happy for those that do win.  It's not always an easy thing.

I'll also pray that I'm lucky enough to maintain a desire to help others.  In doing so, I must not consider what others have done for me.  When I look to serve others (as I did in seeking a leadership position), whether they'd do the same for me that I look to do for them should matter not.

To those chosen to serve- and indeed everyone, this is your charge:  Help others who need it.

Lord, let me rejoice when I am blessed- but let me not rejoice when others around me suffer.  Help me to live every day so that even when I kneel to pray my prayers shall be for others.  Lord, help me to live for others and to serve others.  Help me in all the work I do- to forever be sincere and true.

As this race comes to an end, I'm thankful to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ for the amazing opportunity He gave me to even compete in it- and for the rare opportunity He gave me to profess His goodness to a number of folks who might never have heard of Him before.

Whether I find out in a few hours that I've won or that I've lost, God remains good.
