Too Big To Keep (Legally) - One BIG Redfish

Yes, this red fish is too big to legally keep. Ron let it go once the photos were taken today. It was raining but a little rain never kept a fisherman from going out....at least until the lightening started. Then the guys headed for shore!

ronnie with another red fish

There is nothing like fresh fish but this guy won't be on our table. They did catch and keep a couple of 'legal' size red fish though!

Fishing in the Crystal Beach region of Florida is great and there is always something to catch!  If you are considering making our area your home and need assistance with your home search, give me a call.

Ron is quite a fisherman, Barbara-Jo.  When he comes to Minnesota, he can fish in my boat anytime!

they can only be kept if between 18 and 27 inches, Kerrie............no larger.........so he had to go back in the water to breed. But it made a great photo!!!

Barbara Jo,

Great looking catch and it is too bad that it was too big to keep and eat. I am sure this fish would have a great taste.

Hi Barbara Jo, That is one stunning looking fish. I have heard of " Too Big to Fail" but never "To Big To Keep", LOL.

Barbara-Jo, That is some huge fish. What does red fish taste like? We had some Almaco Jack at the beach and it tasted like a very young and tender grouper.

I don't get it.  Too small, too big, out of season, banned for pollution.  Too many darn rules to keep straight.

Barbara-Jo, I also didn't know about the maximum size limitations imposed on fish...at least you captured this photo before the fish had to be thrown back in the water! :)
