It was such a beautiful day today.
I was in the Alvin area and decided to take a lunch break at the new Skate Park recently constructed by the Parks Department. Dan Kelinski, Park Director did a great job taking bids for this project and overseeing its construction. There were many skaters out there at lunch time and that portion of the park was very busy!
The Parks and Recreation Department coordinates all activities year round for both adult activities and youth sports. In addition they help in the organization of any special events that may take place in the city. This department is also in charge of all the city buildings, lawn and city easement maintenance, construction of new parks and their maintenance.
Alvin's Parks and Recreation Department has one of the largest Community Service Programs in Brazoria County, which is a significant cost savings for the City of Alvin. With this program in place, community service workers help to keep the city streets and parks clean.
