Approximately 70 miles from Delaware County or an hour and a half drive, depending on which route you take; you can treat yourself to a day trip in order to have a good Pennsylvania Dutch meal at Deitsch Eck (Dutch Corner) Restaurant in Lenhartsville, PA.
Deitsch Eck Restaurant is located on the corner of Route 143 and Old Route 22 about 18 miles south of another fine destination Hawk Mountain. It was on a day trip from Delaware County that we happened upon Deitsch Eck Restaurant. We were looking for a place to eat after visiting Hawk Mountain and as we entered Lenhartsville I remembered eating there many years before.
The interior of this place is worth a visit just in itself. The dining room to the right has artwork on the walls and ceiling by Johnny Ott a prolific Pennsylvania Dutch hex sign artist and the dining room on the left has a tin ceiling. Fortunately the owners of this establishment have preserved his work and the flavor of this building for all to enjoy.
Our meal was tasty (American faire) and local birch beers were on the menu, a local offering.

This sounds great, but it's too bad, I don't get to Pennsylvania much. I've never had birch beer and I want to try it.
Gloria & Doug, I would love to try Pennsylvania Dutch food. Sounds like something we should all try.
Hi Gloria & Doug, there is a Dutch Heritage Restaurant in Sarasota and they offer Amish style buffet.
Pennsylvania has an abundance of this type of cozy, family fare restaurants. The Deitsch Eck Restaurant sound like it is the real deal.

Hi Debbie, One day maybe you will get to this neck of the woods and I out in your area. Birch beer is a soda and is one of those treats that for me brings me back to my youth!
Hi Joan, Plain food but oh so good!
Hi Kwee, Glad you hear you have such food in your area. There must be a market for this "comfort" food.
