Staging Your Home - What To Do

By

The linked article below talks about staging your home to sell. With all the TV shows on real estate buying, selling and decorating, the staging boom is thriving. The article mentions less clutter (agents always agree with this) and being mindful of color. The most important point and one I tell sellers, is that a buyer needs to see themselves, their family and their stuff in your house. I would caution against being “too creative” as you stage your home because it could become distracting to a buyer. Regardless, once those buyers see themselves in your home, get ready to move!

Yes staging makes a big difference on the price one gets and the speed with which the home sells.

It sure does. I remember a listing where the tenant would not let me into the home until the day of our realtors open. Let’s just say, she had “staged” the home to “not sell.” Although her frustration was understandable and she didn’t want to move, I was faced with a challenge to get the home sold in its poor condition. Eventually, after many very considerate conversations and a few Starbucks gift cards, she cleaned the house, eventually did move and I was able to stage the home to sell.
