Photo Or No Photo? I'll Answer That!

My good buddy and #625 friend, Eric Michael posted a blog today about the age old question...

Do you have a photo on your business card or not?

I realize this is a matter of choice, not a requirement. But for a real estate broker that does networking (and soon to be more of it) when you meet 4,8, 10 people at an event, when you get home it's really hard to remember what Sally or John looked like.

But if their card had a picture, it would be a no brainer, right? To my knowledge, maybe the exception being people in cosmetic sales, real estate people (or our overall industry to include mortgage people) are the only ones that put their pictures on their cards.

And I'm all for it! Chalk it up to age, or whatever, but I can't remember people like I use to. But I do swear that if I have a card with a picture, first, I tend to keep them even when they have been entered in my database, and I remember the name and face better.

But, it's a personal preference. I just ordered 1000 of my new business cards. With my picture on them.

I hope to use them up quickly. I don't have a glamour shot, just the real me, shot by my graphic artist who designed my new cards. Maybe it will be incentive to make sure I still look the same in a couple years if I have NOT used all of them.

But, I've certainly gotten rave reviews on my new cards. And one think I kind of like....you almost DON'T know I sell real estate. I'm hoping it brings more people to my site!

I had my logo designed and/or branded along with my card. I elected not to put my face, but my logo instead.

Hi Thom, I used to have my picture on my card but after a couple of creepy incidences I opted to leave it off. I totally get your reasoning, however, makes perfect sense. I have invested in higher quality cards that already feel different than your typical business card.. that tends to be memorable as well.

If your card is different and stands out perhaps people will also remember the face that goes with it? Not sure but hopeful.

Nope - there is too much information I want on the card - like my web and blog sites to have a photo on it.  If the VA real estate rules and regs would allow it, I would just have LandlordWhisperer on my card!

Thom - You bring up a great point, I've always had my picture on my card, for me it's part of my branding.  However when I get a new picture it is a pain to switch them all out.

I've had my picture on some, my team logo on some, and now just my information on them...HOWEVER, each one of these cards stood out in some other way. One was metal, one plastic, this last one is a translucent plastic with metal foil accents. I have always subscribed to the belief if someone takes a card from you and they don't comment about how different, unique, or "neat" the card is...I throw them away and get other ones.

I like my Agents to have their picture and I think it is important for networking.  I wouldn't send a referral to someone on AR who didn't have a picture.

Your business card is a good-looking one.  I don't use my photo on my card, but I do have a photo on my website.  Not to over-do them.  I've just ran across someone that has 6 photos of herself on one page of her site ... way too much IMHO.

Thom, when you're a stud like you, you gotta put your mug on the cards! I keep waffling back and forth. Maybe I'll do 2 sets of cards. Seems like the younger people would like a more streamlined card. Btw, thanks for the mention and link!

Good card! I vote 'photo'! As long as it is a good (subjective term, but you know what I mean) picture, absolutely! We are visual!
