What! You mean a buyer would not want a house that is repaired with such quality items?
You're so right. It's one thing when you are living there, but a different ball game when you are selling. Oy vey on this one.
Quality work is always in demand Kathryn! That would make this house extremely popular!
Debbie - this house was a little more than cleaning out the trunk and front seat... ;>)
Well, in The Commonwealth of Virginia, what you see is probably what you're going to get. Pretty isn't a consideration. After all, if the owner/seller had the knowledge, ability or inclination to do it (repair) right, they would have done it right in the first place.
I do suggest to home buyers that, if this is how the seller maintained what you can see.. . . . be prepared for less than professional maintenance/repairs on what you can't see.
Of course, it all depends on the market AND accessibility and price. Condition is relative to accessibility and price.
That's it in a nutshell, Lenn, and you have probably heard me say that more than once to clients. Particularly on remodeling, if the homeowner has done it, what is invisible is usually a concern!
Morning Jay I can't decide which one to attack should I have been the inspector both are equally bad in the concept and execution.
Hi Jay,
What's with the really bad "HUMP" in the rolled roofing.
That's not a rafter bulging up is it? or is it just the rolled roofing wanting to go on vacation?
Good find and keep out of the Rain. You and I could melt if in the rain. LOL
Have a great week ahead in Bristow my friend.
Best, Clint McKie
James - I agree with both of your adjectives!
Clint - those humps are a little of both. I didn't want to push too hard for fear of cracking the tops, but the roof is just hanging on I think.
Well at least that homeowner is consistent. You've likley found similar 'home remedies' used on the interior maintenance as well.
This guy is good Robert, and virtually on every continent!
Mayhap not in Antartica, but we can't be sure.
While the vent is ugly, the roof is a serious issue. Looks like he should have used some of that tape on the roof.
Jay, I laugh at Jim comment. Heck with all the poor roof work I see it may have been the so called pro.
The world just needs more "black goop", aluminum tape, and a strong desire to Do-It-Yourself Jay. :)
Good afternoon Jay. Aluminum tape flashings rock. lol. Wouldn't it be nice if we could actually cut and paste roof sections? I am in.,
And roof tar on the vent Jim! I agree. This guy is backwards.
Obviously I agree with you about the roof!
This guy may be a licensed and insured roofer Don! Who knows!
For sure Tom. And since it's so easy to get, why not?
Randy - it would! Just hit CTRL V and bam, new roof!
Hey Jay,
I find patch work like this makes report writing longer, and we're labeled as picky.
I hope so labeling this isn't picky Eric! There was no leaking that I could see, yet, but it will!
