19 Comments on Waynesville Hosts 43rd Annual Ohio Sauerkraut Festival October 13 & 14 2012
How neat!!! I would try it all. I'm always up for a culinary adventure. I wish I lived closer so I could experience this festival.
Ohio Sauerkraut Festival ............43 years and I've never heard of it, probably because sauerkraut is not one of my favorite things, but the rest of the event sounds great.
Just goes to show that there is a celebration for everything. I have never had sauerkraut on anything that didn't contain a hotdog bun.
Debbie, They certainly have some interesting combinations!
Roger, It's big down in this corner and they'll pack the town for those two days.
Charita, We've got quite a few festivals in this area, apples, berries, banana splits, sauerkraut...yep, our area covers all the bases :)
Happy Monday BLiz. This sounds like a fun event although I am not so sure about the sauerkraut ice cream!
Good Morning BLiz! Sounds like a great time for all but I'm with Anita, ice cream and sourkraut? :)
Hi Bliz, sauerkraut on ice cream and cookies? This is something new to me. It sounds like a fun event.
Anita, Apparently it does well enough for them to bring it back every year :)
Laura, It's built into the ice cream. They were artisan before anyone knew what it was!
Kwee, They build it right in as an ingredient, kind of like using shredded coconut, but a lot more zing!
I'm shocked. I thought Franksville Wisconsin was the sauerkraut capital of the country. Love a good pork roast roasted in kraut.
Chris & Dick, Maybe we can have a sauerkraut festival face off :)
I am glad, not only that the saurcraut festival is thriving but. that there are still people who actually know how to make things.
Steve, It's true, not everything is made in China :)
I love the Autumn festivals but I really don't love sauerkraut but a festival is such a fun thing.
I am of Norwegian heritage but I really love my sauerkraut. Had two big helpings this weekend at OKtober-fest...
Liz, I think plenty of people skip the sauerkraut and just enjoy the vendors and the other food :)
Paul, Lots of Germanic influence in our area. World's 2nd largest Oktoberfest and a bunch more smaller cousins too.
Oh my goodness. Seriously! Sauerkraut in ice cream and cookies! Wow, have never heard of that one but I sure would love to taste some of the others. Sounds like fabulous fun and wish we had one in our area.
Bobbie, It is quite the combination isn't it? :)
Hi,
The Sauerkraut Festival sounds like it's going to be great. Hot dog, funnel cake and cotton candy would make my day.
Wandanna, They'll pass 100,000 people for the festival if it's like typical. And we've got perfect fall weather today for it :)
