Two Things That Sabotage All That Good Exercise

Bad DietFrom time to time I write about staying fit and in shape for our real estate professional lives or other people for that matter too. But I have indeed noticed

Two Things That Sabotage All That Good Exercise.

One you can see by a person's outside, pot bellied, overweight, loose skin, the other is more internal although long term it produces skin wrinkles, a lower voice and coughing.

First one is BAD DIET. Good eating probably contributes to 60% of how fit you are and you can't do too much exercise to overcome eating bad. Quantity too many calories. Quality eating the wrong foods. I see people on treadmills for YEARS and they never seem in shape. They should just quit exercising and eat better. It may take longer but their body will show the effects of too many calories for their metabolism, all those fats, sugar, alcohol, excessive red meat. I am not saying be some cruelty free vegetarian extreme person, but be smart and moderate.

Second, is SMOKING. You can be a fitness EXPERT with weights, and yoga and all sorts of routines you may know. But if you SMOKE, totally wipes out what is going good for you. You will end up getting possibly emphysema and need an oxygen tank, women too can get heart attacks from smoking, and the risk of lung cancer. Plus who needs premature aging of the skin from smoking. Smoking is NOT a moderation thing, it is a NO thing, and realize how powerful and addictive nicotine is as a chemical. GET HELP. But above all STOP STOP STOP.

You get those two in line and away you go with the positive effects of good cardio exercise. But without those two it is like trying to ride a bicycle fast while at the same time dragging your feet along the ground. You are doing yourself in.

Gary, I am in total agreement with you. People can be addicted to food as well as nicotine. Too much or the wrong foods can be deadly.

Gary: Common sense advice, but sometimes that is the hardest to accept.  I don't smoke, but I could definitely eat better.  Well, you've inspired me!  Those are great points- Thanks for sharing!  :)

Hi Gary, I was able to kick off that nicotine habit back in the 80's, and it did make a world of difference in my health and diet too. I was able to run those longer distances like 5K and 10K races while I was still in the service.

Also not drinking enough water.  Some people confuse hunger with thirst.  They have been doing it for years and it is a major problem with weight gain and loss

Well, I am one for two.  My diet while not bad, isn't the greatest either.

Gary

Control your diet and you will control your weight.

Skip the smoking is one of the best things you can do for your skin.

Good luck and success.

I eat a very healthy diet...for the most part.  When I have fried food or too much sugar, I know that it's only an occasional thing so I don't worry about it.  I've never smoked....so two for two...I'm good!

Started Weight Watchers a few months ago after watching my sister-in-law shed pounds thanks to that program. Am learning to eat much better than I ever have. Probably the best thing I could've done for myself.
