Upper Stream Farm in Berwyn is a unique and historic property built on four point eight acres out of five hundred acres originally owned by William Penn and deeded to William Mordant in 1681. On the property is the oldest bank barn in Chester County. We got the chance to tour the property today with the listing agent and get some shots of this fabulous barn. The property is zoned commercial so there are some great uses this property can be put to, maybe an antique store, or a destination wedding location, the property has its on pub located in the original spring house. Now listed at $1.25 million and listed as a short sale the property gives many options to future owners. Located close to route 202 it gives easy access to those important roads necessary to a business owner.
In 1770 when the barn was built, barns were always constructed first, before the house and the family would live among the animals whislt they then built their home. The massive, 9000 square foot barn, still has the orignal hand hewn timbers, stone walls and animal stalls. The beams were cut from trees on the property and still display sturdy mortise and tenon joints and wide plank floors.
