aaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahaha - forwarded to everybody in my office....and a few extra....
Mona - This is one of the reasons I have no time for the programs on HGTV.
Loved the video - it took me back to the days when I was an agent, shaking my head over the dumb things people said and did. One of my favorites was when buyers wanted me to justify their low-ball offers to sellers because they were going to "fix the place up."
I used to say "Are you planning to let the sellers repossess the house?" (In the early days we did a lot of seller financing.)
They'd of course say no, and then I'd tell them, "Then the seller doesn't care how much you fix it up."
I have struggled with the same issue for my whole career in Real Estate. I have gotten much better at vetting my buyer clients but am still guilty of getting excited and jumping the gun with them so to speak. Thanks for the reminder to have a good long consultation prior to putting folks in my car! Thanks Mona!
Not many agents are fearless enough to reject a prospect or opportunity, so I applaud any professional who is fearless. That said, once a decision is made to represent a client, he calls the shots, although you could always terminate your agreement for cause but that rarely occurs, doesn't it?
Dear Mona,
The impulse car purchase & not repairing the roof have derailed two of my transactions in the past, but have not had too many of the others. I have kept my ears pricked in the office, so I can learn from others instead of on my own. Very funny though.
Nice post!
Hi Mona, we think the real estate shows just need to spend a week in our office to get a whole season full of episodes. lol
Loved the video. Funniest thing I have seen on Active Rain. Most who have been in the real estate business can relate to those scenarios and even add a few of their own!
Mona Thank you for sharing, I love these video, GREAT POST!
Too funny. How many times have we all bitten our tongues? Miracle any of us have any tongues left.
What's really funny is that these situations happen all the time. I had someone buy a $50,000 pickup truck while under contract. He said "aint she a beauty" I wanted to say "I hope it can pull a popup camper because you sure are not getting the house"
Mona, Best laugh of the day! Reality is stranger than fiction.
yup ... tell the client the truth and help them to reality ... best job ever
Jeff, so true!
Larry, thanks so much.
Gayle, it just makes sense to get it straight from the get-go.
Sylvia and Lucas, thanks.
Gayle, you and me both. RE is full of situation comedy and tragedy.
Sharon, just what we needed...more challenges.
Carol Lynn, you wouldn't be alone.
Wendy, you are welcome.
Travis, your office should be full of laughter then!
Amen Brad!
Terry, glad you liked it.
Marte, sounds like you had your buyers in line.
Steve, I think all of us will always get caught once in awhile.
Kimo, that's right they do become your responsibility but it isn't hard to find just cause if the relationship isn't working.
Dorte, glad I haven't run into those but I know agents who have.
Jamie, thanks.
Bob, no kidding!
Janet, it would be an epic production, wouldn't it?
Emilia, you're welcome.
Nan, considering how much agents talk - it seems that the tongue must be able to regenerate itself, lol.
Dana, now that's pretty funny although I'll bet it wasn't at the time.
John, I'm so glad you liked it.
Lehel, the truth is actually easier on everyone.
The truth is, these people didn't have to make this stuff up. It happens ALL the time. Maybe not the responses, but definitely the scenarios. I think we all should be given medals of valor.
Mona, just had the time to watch the video!
Wonderful!
and I've been helping out at a RE attorney's ofice for a few weeks; opened my eyes as to how much the attorneys can say too!! about Realtors and loan officers!
Randy Stephens and the "Hawk" Hawkins I believe are the name of two of those guys. They used to fill in on the TBWS Daily.
Leslie, I'm not sure we could walk under that kind of weight, lol.
Nellie, I can't even begin to imagine what the attorneys would want to say.
Gene, they are pretty talented guys.
