12 Comments on Barbecue Starter - don't use fuel anymore!
Georgina, I too hate charcoal lighter fluid. I've been using newspaper (the only thing its good for since I don't have birds or sell fish) and twigs. I think I'll try the chimney idea. Thanks.

Tom - Some of us die hards just can't get behind those gas grills.
B & B - I'm glad I made a convert - that's made my day!
A pal of mine had a hibachi grill that folded up in to a chimney. You would fill the bottom of both sides of the hibachi with coals, contain them with grills, then fold the two halves to the centre. There was a little catch to hold them. i can't remember what we used to start the fire at the bottom. In any case, the coals woul catch fire in the chimney and we were ready to go in 20 minutes. I have not seen one like this for 30 years.

Dave - that sounds so cool! I don't think they make them like that anymore. those old Hibachis were great. Thanks for commenting!
The more we can wean ourselves off of everything that comes from petroleum, the better we will be!
Tiffany - thanks for commenting. I cringe when I see people buying bbq lighter fluid - there's just no need for it.
