Martin Luther King (January 15, 1929-April 4, 1968)

“an Advocate for Peace for All”.

Today we celebrate one of our great American heroes. He fought for non-violence for all the masses. And yes to be cut down in the prime of his life. Have you noticed that some of the greatest leaders in this world were lost at such a very young age. The list is endless. There have been celebrations all across the US commemorating this event. In your busy day take a moment and say a prayer honoring this great man of courage. What it would have been to be able to hear some of his thunderous speeches and the most favorite “I Have a Dream”.

Sometimes I wonder what would he doing if he was here with us. Rallying the people for CHANGE. That word recently has been synonomous with several of the candidates (Democrats as well as Republicans). It’s our new rallying cry. The American people have been stagnated for so long they are open to change. What that change is is everyone’s guess.

He was a great leader and He was used by God to change America for the better. HMLKD

Yes he was. And his legacy lives on.

I'm almost embarassed to admit this but today I listened to THE speech for the first time in its entirety. Awesome, i was filled with goose bumps an amazing man

It would have made the hair stand on your head. Literally!!!

He made so many sacrifices to fulfill a dream.

Yes Endea. Hence the speech" I Have a Dream".

I gave that question of how he would feel during these times. Especially during the Jenna 6 which by the way is not over. I could see him there speaking and marching.... his dream is still not filled but it is a little better in so many ways. I spent some of my day giving tribute to MLK - check me out!

Our local newspaper, the Bryan College Station Eagle, had an article that I liked that made some guesses as to what he would be doing today. They predicted that he would be demonstrating against the inequities in the school systems, the need to extend health-care to the poor. They predicted that he would be marching against the war in Iraq like he did with Vietnam.

I think his speech, "I have a dream" still applies to us today.

I am with you my brother. Someday, maybe not on this earth, but someday God's people with stand hand in hand with no regard for race or creed and we will worship the one who has made it possible for us all to shout, "Free at last, free at last. Thank God Almighty we're free at last!" Dr. King was a great man from whom we can all learn a priceless life lesson.

Funny that someone would mention the Jenna 6 during this conversation. That situation, as awful as it is, will bring about radical changes in that community, once it is all said and done. And change for America, well, who on earth knows what kind of change that would be. Unfortunately, this world has degenerated so badly that the "change" may not be what we, as Christians, would like to see.
