Dont Text and Show Property

We now have a new problem and possibly a cause to follow.  As we all know we have MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), The No Texting and Driving Campaign and Now well the No Texting while Showing Property Campaign that I am starting.

The Victim.  The Coffee Table.  The Defendant, Yeah thats Me.

It all started a couple months ago while showing property to one of my clients.  A gorgeous place on the beach in Highland Beach at the Clarendon, and the buyer was coming back for the 3rd time while he was under contract.  Most contracts I do don't include furniture, but this was a way to compensate for a price increase during negotiations so my buyers were proceeding based on this furniture.  I was showing the husband around and the unit was designed mostly contemporary with low sofas, and coffee tables.  The husband needed to go outside to take a phone call so he went to the balcony.  I closed the door and proceeded westerly through the unit while texting another client that 3:00 will be fine, and then it happened.  CRASH, BAM, OUCH, UH OH, ARE YOU KIDDING ME.  Yes when it was all over my phone was 30 feet away, I am laying on top of the coffee table that is split into two halves, one half is on the floor, and well I guess you could say I was somewhat embarassed.  The good part of this.  Well the husband did not see me.  I obviously proceeded to tell him that I would get it fixed and i stumbled over the table.  Luckily I did get it fixed, but the next morning not only was I embarassed, but my shin was the size of the coffee table I landed on.

I did get it fixed, and in the end the buyers closed, but what an ordeal.

So to all my realtor friends, please when texting make sure you are stationary.  Do not sway back and forth and do not proceed forward as it may be dangerous to your health.  I believe this may become an epidemic of increasing proportions.  Please do not walk and text as today it was a coffee table tomorrow well it could be a dining room table or even a wall.

Good afternoon David. Things could have went seriously wrong the other way so glad it worked out. I have walked into a door jamb texting showing instructions. Luckily no one saw it. lol

Randy, thanks for the comment.  You are correct.  It could have gone seriously wrong.  No problem though.  Never thought texting and walking could be dangerous.

David- I'm 2 months late in seeing this but it also took me a few minutes to quit laughing!   I'm glad you weren't seriously hurt but it is a good reminder to text only when totally stationary!
