I really enjoy ActiveRain, and I am receiving numerous referrals from other agents who have viewed my blog!

I just recently joined MySpace and FaceBook, and am wondering if any 'Rainers are having success growing their businesses with these networking sites.  A friend from church just invited me into LinkedIn, and so there is yet another place to spend some time... my question is, where are YOU finding success with these networking sites?

I understand that Keller Williams Realty is adding blogs to all our websites... so much work to do!

Please share with me those sites you suggest we all visit...

Thanks,

Kevin Cahill, Keller Williams Realty Greater Cleveland

I h ave had some success with FB, but never MS.  Although, I did have an LO that got a couple of leads from MS

So, it does work if you work it and that is the trick to any thing

In the last year, I've received 4 solid leads off Active Rain.  I never tried the others but they definitely have a 20something and younger feel to them when that's not necessarily who are buying and selling houses, especially in this market.

I think A.R. is they way to go.  I get leads from college buddies from facebook for apt leases.  But thats about it.

I have a feed from my "other blog" on Facebook and have closed one sale from a visitor from there.  My dogs have tons of friends on Facebook and that gets me a lot of traffic.

I agree with Scott. Active Rain seems to be the "mover and shaker" for the real estate industry. It can't hurt to try the other sites. I know several others that are on LinkedIn and I joined a while ago but haven't really done much with it yet.

Rather than using social networking sites to directly connect with new buyers and sellers, I've had more success using them to meet other local business owners who are then added to my met database and hit up for referrals.

It can get overwhelming. For web 2.0 fanatics, FB and MS are old news. Have you played with stumbleupon or twitter? The list of social network possibilities is endless. While it's definitely not in your 20%, it could be a fun thing for an assistant or intern to do.  Will it directly connect you to buyers and sellers? Probably not. But will it help you get mad web traffic and build your met database with people who think you're hip? Yes.

And, or course, don't forget meetup.com.

Kevin - The more links you have from networking sites the better SEO you get. The more freinds you have on facebook helps too!

Regarding the more links you have from networking sites the better SEO you get-

I would argue those links' value.  With each inbound link, you have to take into account how long the url has been in existence... is it even indexed? what links to it? what's the content like?  The anchor tag?  The PR? While it counts for something, I think there are more efficient ways to execute a link campaign.  Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of social networking but for different reasons.
