How stupid do you have to be to do that?

One snowy Saturday afternoon as I arrived home from wherever I was. I notice my husband at the end of our driveway talking with a young guy who's car appeared to have missed the curve in the road. I figured he was traveling too fast for the icy road conditions and just slid off the road.

When my husband came into the house he explained how this young kid was driving too fast, missed the curve and ran his car up onto some "large" rocks that I had him place at the end of our driveway. (These were in noway small rocks it took a backhoe to get them in pace.)

My first thought was, "How do you end up on top of a rock?" and was soon followed by a very famous question my family has always asked, "How stupid do you have to be to do that?"

(Now keep in mind it was winter and this was probably this boy's first winter of driving; looking back I could have been much kinder and sympathetic to his situation.)

Now summer had come and I had lined most of my driveway (about 2/10 mile) with various rocks and boulders. I was turning around and starting down the driveway to head back to work, when my husband called on my cell phone. As I answered it, it slipped from my hand and landed on the passenger side floor. I reached across to get the phone and began to go forward (you can probably see where this is going). I heard an awful scraping and grinding sound under my car so I stopped. I realized how close I was to the wood-line and figured i must have hit a branch so as I tried to back up I realized I wasn't going any where.

I jumped out of the car, with cell phone in hand, inspected the situation and told hubby I was going to have to call him back.(I didn't want him to know what I had done.) Upon further investigation I found the car rested on the perfect pivot point.(Trust me I tried not to have to call for help! Stacked rocks, boards and anything I could under the front tires to try to get me off that rock!) Lucky for me, there happened to be 2 guys that work for our family business to help lift and push the car off the rock.

Now I knew the very answer to the questions I had previously asked! For the young boy ...it was obviously dangerous winter conditions that landed him upon that rock and I also knew it wasn't stupidity just lack of experienced in winter driving. As for me of course; I blame my husband for making me drive up on that huge bolder ...It may have been my idea to put the rocks there but he was the one that did it, also if he wouldn't have called me I wouldn't have dropped the phone which inturn caused me to drive atop a rock. How stupid do you have to be? (of course I know it was my fault)

PS: I have since made him remove most of the rocks that lined my driveway.

Joslyn,

That is funny.  It sounds just like something I would do.  It would kill me to call my husband and tell him.  I have done similar stuff.  It sure makes for fun stories.

Joslyn, what a hoot! Of course it's all your husbands fault, if he just hadn't listened to you, the rocks wouldn't have been there!LOL!

Too funny! Don't you hate when things like that happen? And of course it was your husband's fault. I know I'm to blame for most anything that goes wrong for my wife. I've just come to accept it!

That's why we should all be thinking when we see things that happen to others...."There but for the Grace of God go I"    :  )

PS, however, your family question is MUCH funnier!!!!

It is funny to hear some one else ask that question?  I ask that all the time?  When you see people get caught in movies and real life doing dumb stuff!  I always say that!

Good story!
