Hey what are you doing on MY mountain? Inspiration to the MAX!

This morning was gorgeous in the Phoenix area - rainy and cloudy - so I knew I had to get out hiking and Hiking Shaw Butte Phoenix AZenjoy the cool weather.  Yes, I know 'cool' is a relative term but for us Phoenicians. Anything in the 60's is cool and such a welcome relieve after our long hot summer. Time to lace up the hiking boots and get trucking up my mountain!

So here's the deal I got up to the top and stopped to relax, enjoy the view and catch my breath!  I started to
head down my mountain and was stopped by a feisty redhead.  She's says "hey would you like a copy of the mountain news? Sounded good to me as I knew there was a group of 'regulars' that had been hiking this hill for years and it'd be kind of fun to see what's going on this season. I take one look at what the feisty gal handed me and knew it was a 'real estate' deal. I introduced myself and told her what a great idea!  She tells me she's been doing this for 5 years and it's her mountain. Hmmmm?

Seriously - why I had not thought creating a 'mountain newsletter' 20 years ago?

20 years is how long I've been trudging up and down 'my mountain' with some time off due to an injury. How did I miss such a great opportunity?  I always say hi, good morning or whatever and stop to talk with folks with cute dogs or kids but haven't really gotten to know folks more than simple chit chat.

Once I got back to my home I checked out the nice lady's 'mountain news' and quite frankly it was pretty poorly displayed and written.  She had herself prominently displayed on top - which is kind of a turn off to nature lovers like me - I'm guessing. The entire front page was one long, long LONG paragraph that went on and on and on and ON. Way to much work for most folks to read that much - I'm guessing. The back page was better but it sill had too much information and nothing to 'grab' a readers attention.  There were no spectacular pictures, only one very poor photo plus an advertisement for a carpet cleaner. Where do you supposed I learned all this stuff?  Why ActiveRain of course!

Seriously - now that I know my competition I'm going to have
fun creating something really cool for 'my mountain news'

My head is spinning full of  ideas....I can't wait to start creating this new project! It would be fabulous to interview some of the hikers. There is such a wide variety of people that have been hiking this hill for years I'm sure they've got stories to tell. I know I've got tons of stories about snakes, coyotes, baby foxes, a wild burro that used to hang out on the hill for years plus lots more! And I bet most of the hikers would probably enjoy seeing their story 'highlighted' in the mountain news.  I've got a lot of photos of the mountain and this will give me a chance to take even more photos. Yeah!  I will also highlight some local information and all kinds of neat stuff!  And one more thing - of course I'll post blogs about this project and create a new blog for 'my mountain news'. What a fabulous community building, fun project!

Seriously  -  Inspiration to the MAX - and all this while doing something
I'm absolutely passionate about - hiking MY MOUNTAIN!

Anna, that's probably how Randolph Hearst got started as well. No one owns the ideas, but the development of the thought is where the intelligence matters. That young lady won't know what hit her.

Anna- that sounds like a great idea!  And BTW... 60 degrees is considered cold for us in South Florida.  We're heading north and to Texas in November and I'm going to have to try to pull out my sweaters and gloves. I can't wait to see your first Mountain Muse newsletter!

Great view from your mountain Anna.

I can't wait to see the first copy of the newsletter. Funny how AR can carry over into so many different things.

So great Anna that you are going to share your mountain views and perspectives.  And, that tree branch could easily be mistaken for a bolt of lightening-looks like there is a lot of special mystery going on at that mountain.

Scott I know, I know....we live in heaven this next 9 months with perfect weather.  Great place to come and vacation! But once you come.....people want to live here!!

janeanne - your mountains are older than mine!  lol  it's going to be a fun journey.....I can feel it.

Mary - cooler than dirt for sure!

Andrea - she's pretty cool - and feisty.  She just hasn't learned how to put it together - for today's world.

Sharon - very nice!  Gorgeous weather for a top down drive with your sweetie!  I am going to call you next week with a possible design client of a new build.

Kathy it's going to be fun to play with it.

Lou - of course!  Meant to be.

Nancy - wasn't on my plan but it surely is now. It just has so much energy written all over it.

Ed - she'll be fine. Perhaps whatever she's doing works well for her.  I just know that where I'm going is a much different place.   I can see the blog already - and look forward to creating it soon.

Kathy - you and I live on similiar planets!  I actually pulled out a sofa throw this am - it was in the 50's at 5:45 when I got up. Brrrrr!  But it feels good!!!

Tom - AR - where can I start......it just keeps getting better and better.

Larry & Sheila - thanks!  Me too:)

Sheila - it is pure joy being on top of the mountain once again! Pure joy:)  You got it!

Joanna - I have hundreds of photos. This one I took with my phone yesterday. I sat down at the top to enjoy the view and have some water. It looked kind of interesting to me - and I was wondering why it wasn't green. Soon I bet.

I'm like you. I see someone else's idea, and then I often try to do it better (or my way--which is always better, of course). (You know I am writing tongue-in-cheek, I hope). I have also learned lots from AR about best practices.

I wonder if I could get away with that with a newsletter on MY ATLANTIC OCEAN? Guess I would need to narrow it down a bit.

Reminds me of something I saw on The Simpsons years ago when Marge became a real estate agent.  She was told to "stay out of the east side" by another agent in her office.  It was hilarious.  And good timing for you to have met this feisty (don't hold it against red heads) gal.  She's just out there doing what we all do, hustle.  The take away, it got your motivated!  Now that's BananaTude all right!!
