Why Does Google+ Feel Like a Vacant House? Or is it just me...

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Lola Audu~Audu Real Estate~Grand Rapids, MI Real Estate

The question was posed on Facebook and is generating an interesting exchange.  Apparantly, my experience with Google+ is not exclusive.  The trouble is...I want to like this network.  It has all the functionality which should make hanging out a pleasure.  It's easy to use with an intuitive design, there are hangouts and even circles to segment my conversation stream...

But, for some reason, the network echos for me.  It's like visiting a vacant home and turning on the lights.  You know that someone lived there at one time, but the absence of any presence is actually palpable.  This is true even when the furniture remains or is staged.  Life can be felt and when its not there...well, you feel that too.

Curious, what's your experience with Google+?  Is hanging out working for you or are you simply hearing echos through the chambers?

Hi Lola~

That is EXACTLY the sense I get! You turned the lights right on it! SUGGEST this as a conversation to be held....

Google+ is a different beast of it's own. I read it best describes as facebook you associate with people you know and google+ gives you the opportunity to associate with people you would like to get to know.

The problem you are having is that you do not have friends in your circles. Once you add interesting people who are knowledgable about things that you want to learn about you will find that Google+ is quite fascinating and educational.

Minimally google looooooves is so don't give up.

We should all have a real estate circle and + one each other would improve all of our rankings. Plain and simple. :)

I should have said you probably just have friends in your circles. Go for topics you want to learn about. I have a marketing circle that teaches me something daily.  If you just try adding friends, unless they are on the cutting edge they haven't bothered with google+ so it will feel like an empty house.
