Graffiti Removal Help
Seeing grafitti makes me so angry. I wish I could just put a sign on the taggers face-"I am naughty and draw funny."
Thanks to Sandy Nelson for addressing a community need. The other solution I know of is to paint with specially graffiti-resistant paint, making the tagging easier to clean up and remove.
Unwelcome Graffiti
It's like a disease that creeps up overnight and mars the face of your home or business with an unsightly blemish. While there are some who consider graffiti an expression of art, the uninvited, tagging kind is mostly a terror, not a treasure to home owners and business owners.
The best action against ongoing graffiti is immediate cleanup. Taggers do not get satisfaction when their work is painted over or removed. Quick and consistant removal is also imperative if you're concerned about keeping homes values high. Pervasive graffiti will lower home values in the affected neighborhood.
The three best ways to remove graffiti:
1. The quickest way to remove graffiti is to simply cover it up with paint.
Make sure you apply the paint evenly, and avoid drips and streaks.
2. Use a sandblaster or pressure washer on a “tagged” surface. This will remove graffiti fairly easily. Sandblast or pressure-wash the entire afflicted area to maintain a cohesive surface.
3. Use Chemicals to dissolve Graffiti. There are numerous solvents available on the market in gels, sprays and liquids that will remove graffiti paint. Check with your local hardware store for the best product.
Important: Take a photo of the graffiti before you remove it and report the incidence to your local police.
You may also want to check with your municipality to find out if they have a graffiti removal program.
