Do Woolly Bear Caterpillars Forecast Winter Weather?
The Farmer's Almanac states that according to legend, the wider that middle brown section is (i.e., the more brown segments there are), the milder the coming winter will be. Conversely, a narrow brown band is said to predict a harsh winter. When my husband and I were out walking today. . . enjoying the Fall weather, we saw several of these woolly creatures.
Then we went to several shopping stores and several of them had their Christmas Displays up (I do love JOY Christmas ornaments, but not in October!).
We drove by Hershey Park and they still had "Hershey Park in the Dark" signs, so that allowed me to breath a sigh of relief!
I enjoy the Central Pennsylvania signs of FALL - leaves, pumpkins, corn stocks, etc. and will try to "ignore" the winter signs for now!
