24 Comments on Window to Your Life...I'll take the Door
Kathryn, isn't it amazing...took it last week in Newport RI..
Lenn, have a double on that one...I have your fetish too!
Dorie, it is somehow ingrained in our minds that the anticipation of entry must be grand.
Gita, it is fascination for sure...
Hi Ginny,
Back yard space is very important. Especially to the men of the home. It's their space and they want it looking good in most cases.
Plus the wife doe's not want to look out the kitchen window and see a lot of weeds, junk etc.
Very good post. But I could not "suggest it".
Have a great week ahead in North Kingstown.
Best, Clint McKie
Hi Ginny I love the wow factor at a front door too. I loved the front doors I saw when I was in London , one was more classy than the next. I wish more sellers would put in a little extra effort here.It does make a difference.
Hi Ginny...
I'm afraid the door has lost a lot of its soul in out tract-built society. But you have described the essence of the portal as a frame very nicely and I enjoyed this post very much.!
Ginny, I think the backyard view is an important one and the door as to be just as inviting as the front door.
Ginny - the door always gives first impression and to me and I love the front doors. Congratulations on your feature :)
I don't think I'll ever look at a door again and feel the same way I felt before reading your post... You reall took 100 door pictures...
Great post and congratualtions on the feature.
Beth
Ginny, No doubt the right door sets the appeal right from the start, or kind of gives a home the blah, just another cookie cutter feel.
Ginny: For me it is the anticipation of the unknown that makes doors so fascinating. Enjoyed the read...congrats on the feature.
Ginny...nice post...Answer the window...door. Also, we now know what to get Lenn (#3) for xmas...a miniature door
Ginny, I recognize that door! Doors are the entry, and you do want to make a statement! Some do, some don't!
When a home goes on the market it has only one chance to make a first impression. The door is the entryway into the home and needs to be inviting and lure the buyers in. No second chances... Make the first one count!
Nice job Ginny. Love this! That door is the first thing greeting you to a home. Needs to look great.
Ginny, whether surprise or demise, that's the consequence when opening a door for the first time. The goal is always to make sure there's enough allure to do so.
Great post, thanks for sharing.
Ginny you are right my initial impression of the house is formed within the first few steps through the front door. It may later change, but it takes a lot to change that first impression.
Ginny,m for me a positive is always being able to safely get to the front door and have it open without a problem, of any type. Opening that door and not being overtaken by sight or smell is the desired effect
I think that the condition of the front door to a home is a very real indicator of how the rest of the house will look. If the door is peeling or faded, there is a good chance that there are many other things inside the house that will be in need of some TLC. On the other hand, if the seller has replaced the door or if it is freshly painted and maintained, it gives the impression that the homeowner truly cares about the first impression that they give to buyers....or they have an agent that knows how important that first impression can be and has instilled that in their seller.
Ginny: I agree; the door to a home is the door to the soul of the house and it is very revealing as to who lives there...I spent a lot of time in the Mid-east, Turkey, Iran and India and in Europe too and you are so right about the doors there!---Everything in the East seems to have a wall around the perimeter of the property and there you wiill find a turquiose door, or a ruby red door, or even a brilliant green door..The same in Southern Italy and France! I love them and glad too see you have discovered them too!
