This afternoon, I headed out to look for signs of the changing seasons.  And that would be trees changing color.  I though I need go no further than Rock Creek Park, just a few steps from my house.  But the park's trees are still mostly green.  So I headed for the C&O barge canal and the Potomac River near Chain Bridge.

We parked along the canal (pictured above) with a few bright red leaves. Then we walked across Chain Bridge toward Arlington, Virginia.

There was a little red (it really stood out) and some yellow, but still mostly green.

Then I looked back toward DC as the sun was getting low enough that it set off the crest of the trees above the water on the Washington side.

Over the next couple of weeks, our leaves should reach their peak and fall to the ground.  I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities to get them to pose for me.

We unfortunately don't get much leaf color in the fall down here in Houston.  Really makes us want to get back to Colorado.

Great photos!  Here in NJ we're getting there, but won't have a lot of color for a week or so!

Did you say to the tree, "how long halt ye between two opinions?"  You won't get an answer.  The tree will just trudge along...

Patricia, since we don't get Fall color here in Florida as vivid as you do in the northern regions, we admire all the colors you post for us!

Patricia-Although you don't have the full change of seasons, I can see the variations, so you change is not too far from full engagement. Enjoy while you can.

Good morning Pat, it is good to see a little green out there still, our leaves turned weeks ago and are mostly laying on the ground now, waiting for winter.

Great shots Pat. Folks think our area is just traffic and crowds. DC is just more than a tourist attraction. There are parks and local beauty tucked into corners all over our area. Come visit...then buy something...like a home :-)
