Gananoque, Ontario

I am so angry, disappointed and disgusted all at the same time!!!   We planted 2 ornamental Pea Shrub Trees at the end of our walkway about 8 years ago.   They thrived in the perfect sun/shade combination and rewarded us with lovely yellow blossoms each spring.

At some point on Sunday, someone attacked one of them with a knife (which is another worry) and hacked it down!   They then proceeded to cart it down the street and stick it in a neighbour's yard.

Our neighbour kindly brought it back to us, thinking the wind had done the damage.  (Until she realized the wind blows in the opposite direction!!)

Looking at the stump (it pains me to even write that word) you can see the blade marks from a knife.  What kind of a person walks around with a knife of such size to do this damage?  Is it the same knife that slashed 4 tires on a car in the back lane a week earlier??  This isn't Chicago!!!  It is Gananoque: population 5200 

What goes thru a person's mind?   How does one make sense of such an idiotic act??    My worry is what is next??

If anyone knows anything about the senseless destruction of this healthy and beautiful little tree, please get in touch with us.

If you know of anyone walking the streets of Gananoque with a knife, get in touch with the Police before it is more than just a tree that is attacked!!

I am fortunate that even at night if people or deer come onto my property my Glen barks.  I'm afraid that little hellion might have peed himself in my yard, because in 30 seconds or less I'll be firing some buckshot into the ground.  One warning shot is all they get too.

Roger - I spoke to the police because I was more concerned about a knife that size being out and about on our streets.  They informed me another house in the next block also had a tree damaged on the weekend.

We'll have extra patrols at least until after Halloween!

Tammy - want to come up for the weekend??   LOL    I don't how our two watch dogs missed this.  They must have been out the back, leaving the front unattended.   Not any more . . .   that's the beauty of having TWO big dogs!!

That's terrible.  Karma's a biotch, and someday when they have something they like, it will be taken from them too! What goes around comes around.  I'm sorry about that, though.  Doesn't help to bring it back.  My neighbors cut down two perfectly fine Ponderosa pines the other week.  I just don't understand people.

There are angry people everywhere unfortunately. Small towns are not a protection anymore. Be safe and I hope they find who did it before next time it is someone's family pet.
