iPhone 5 works with SUPRA e-key

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Mills Realty

I jumped the gun when purchasing the iPhone 5 without thinking that the new Lightning slot will not work with the Supra Dongle (who named that).  I've been carrying around my new iPhone 5 for communications and my old iPhone 4 so I can open lockboxes!  Not a great way to travel. Today I received the Apple Lighting to 30-pin Adapter and it works fine!  You simply plug the adapter into your phone, then the SUPRA dongle into the adapter and use the ekey program as normal.  According to the SUPRA voicemail they are still in testing, but I have tested it and it works perfectly!  The Apple Lighting to 30-pin Adapter is available on the Apple website: http://store.apple.com/us/product/MD823/lightning-to-30-pin-adapter.

Simon ---

Got my adapter, too....but I kinda enjoyed using my ipad with the supra ekey. For one thing, I could look up other info on the spot using my ipad. And there were other functionalities that were a lot easier to do (and easier on the eyes) on the ipad.

Thanks!

Kathy - We do love our gadgets!

Pacita - I like the iPad idea, but it would mean carrying multiple devices to get into a property as you can't make a telephone call using the iPad. I'll give up a better viewing screen for a more practical application and only carrying one device.

So I am wondering the our Board (ACTRIS) will issue a dongle for an iPhone 5?  It sounds like  you guys already had one.  Anyone have any problems with that?

Jim - it is worth the upgrade.

Marianne - Not sure if SUPRA is going to create a new dongle or just approve the Apple adapter along with the dongle for the previous iPhone versions.  If you have the "old" dongle there really is no reason to get a new one now that we know the adapter works just fine.

So... I'll need an adapter for my adapter... O... K... (long drawn our pause...)  Just what I wanted... (sigh)  Thanks for your post Simon!  Maybe I'll wait to upgrade to the iPhone 5 after all.

Nyssa - Yes an adapter for your adapter!  It turns out that the Apple adapter is needed anyway if you want to use any previous Apple power cord.

I just got the iPhone 5 and tried the pin adapter with the Skey bkfst.  It doesn't work and days it needs to authorize tokens with an Error message.  Help

Judy - Not sure what the Skey bkfst its, but it sounds like you need to call Supra tech support. After I wrote the blog Supra came out approving the lighting adapter, so it should work.
