So Your A Full Time Real Estate agent, Do You Own A Home?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Realty Executives Elite Homes

I always hear Real Estate agents say "I'm a full time Real Estate agent" and I always say, So what? just because you sit at your desk from 9-5 every day does not mean your successful at it either. I think in order to be a Successful Real Estate agent you need to be well rounded as well and I think you should at least have bought a home in the past doesn't that make sense?

If your working with investors that are buying homes, shouldn't you as a Real Estate agent have Real Estate investments of your own? That's like being a VP at a bank and not having a checking account, Its like work for Visa or MasterCard and having bad credit am I making sense here?

You need to know a little about business, you need to know a little about finance and it does not hurt to also know something a little about other businesses and contracting, building, plumbing etc.

My point here is just because you have a Real Estate License and you call yourself a "Full Time Real Estate Agent" it does not mean that you are a "Successful Real Estate Agent" I have  more respect for the agent that is Part Time and produces more than the so called "Full Time Agent", I know many agents that have multiple businesses does it make them any less of an agent because they have the drive to own other businesses and other Investments?

I like Gary Kellers thoughts on practicing what you preach and invest in what you know, If I was looking for a multi family home to invest in I would want an agent that actually owns investment property as well, make sense? If I was looking for a Commercial Piece of Property I would want an agent that knows a little about business as well right? If I was looking for an apartment and wanted to run my clients credits scores i would be more comfortable if I knew my agent had good credit as well, No?

We ares supposed to be a Professional Resource for our clients, not a one trick quick flip, used car salesman always looking for the next dollar, this is why our business gets a bad rap. What are your thoughts?

Everyone has a degree of confidence . . and we all have to start somewhere.

I don't have to have a penthouse condo to sell you one. .

self confidence come from within . .and not purchased it like an "expert designation" to add a title to your name.

Work smarter not harder!!!  As for the car salesmen comment they get bad raps too.  The more knowledge you have on what you are trying to sell will go miles.  I was never a hardseller just my knowledge made people come to me.

Full-time agents may or may not be better than part-time agents. You can have a better full-time agent than part-time or your part-time agent may be the better one. What matters is the advantage full-time agents have over part-time agents and that's adopting to your client's schedule, being available for clients in times of immediate concerns or assistance offering increased customer service benefits.
