ONE WAY TO RUIN CURB APPEAL

door

There are dozens of ways to ruin the look or curb appeal of a home, but installing those fake, plastic looking doors that were manufactured a few months ago on a home that is 60 years old or older is a crime. Well, not one you'd go to jail for, although certain Northern Kentucky neighborhoods do have rules about what one can do with a historic home.

I was walking today and saw the entry door and other interior doors from a 1960's home lying in the yard and in their stead gleaming white doors that totally do not go with the cape cod. I've seen this even in homes that are over 100 years old; lovely solid wood doors discarded in the trash.

Of course not all of us appreciate the century old homes and for sure upkeep can take a toll. Sometimes it is even necessary to replace or update them.  I've done rehabs where the doors were not salvageable.  Old homes that have updated kitchens or baths make sense, but one of my pet peeves is when they don't keep the solid wood doors when they are not flawed. Owners can do whatever they want with their homes, but in my book doors that match the age of the home add a lot to curb appeal!

Maybe I'm just that much of a throwback and others don't see it my way.
