Building a difference in Jacksonville, FL - The Goodall Family Story

 
On Saturday, January 19, 2013, Builders Care, a Jacksonville Organization sponsored by the Northeast Florida Builders Association, will showcase The Goodall Family Story. This documentary tells the story of the Goodall Family's journey and a group of professionals who reached out and changed a family and community.
 
 
Kenny Goodall, a Jacksonville welder, was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease. Dreams of building their dream home on their recently purchased 10 acre track of land came crashing down around them as Kenny's condition worsened.  This family of eight was in need of a miracle. In steps ICI Homes and Builders Care. 
 
“I’ve been in the construction business for over 30 years, and felt a kinship with Kenny when I heard he was a welder,” says Don Wilford, president of ICI Homes North Florida Division and a Builders Care board member. “But when I sat down on their couch and looked in Kenny’s eyes, heard Karen’s heart and played with their beautiful children, I knew we had to do something — and we had to do it fast.”
 
With ICI as its partner, Builders Care quickly rallied the industry’s premier trade partners. “It was important for us to get everyone in the same room at the same time,” says Chris Simons, executive director of Builders Care. “These were the heavy hitters. And when they heard about the plight of this family, there was no stopping this project.”
 
Unfortunately, the tragic turn of events didn't start there. During the project, Kollin, the oldest of the children, only 14 yrs old, became diagnosed with Leukemia. 
 
 
What follows is a tale of inspiration, love, heartbreak, and a community building together that will melt your heart. If you are in the Jacksonville area, I strongly recommend that you plan on spending Saturday, January 19th at The Florida Theatre for the World Premiere of this heartwarming documentary of The Goodall Family Story.
