62 Comments on Would you hire yourself to be your Realtor?
I was hoping somebody would say NO. I know a lot of agents that I wouldn't hire. I wonder if they would hire themselves?
Thank you all for the responses. I'll let you know when we get the listing.
Congrats on the Feature!! I've had this question asked many years ago when I was a new Realtor and my answer was "Yes" of course I gave them the reasons why, years later, my answer is "double yes" Number of listings agents carry means nothing to me, as Kathy said it, they may be collectors. I love the picture on your post.
Five-times out of five-times when asked, I would hire myself! With all that being said, I have been on both sides with this issue...My first home I sold it and saved commission but had a few headaches, the second time I used another agent.....I think the second time was better...I used a trusted agent that worked for 1%...
Great question. You have to believe in yourself and demonstrate a track record of success.
I have never been asked that question before but the answer would be "yes!". Hope these smart sellers chose you to sell their home!
Interesting sellers - they seem to be very intent on finding the right Realtors, and they're lucky they found you. Were they smart enough to give you the listing?
Absolutely. One of the reason I became a real estate agent is to flip properties in early 2000. Wouldn't have it any other way. Are there agents I would use if I wasn't licensed, absolutely.
Heck YES I would hire myself ... I frankly would not trust anyone else to do the job!
Did they really expect a "no" answer? So with that "yes", I wonder what they were expecting to hear? How about: I would price my house right; I would stage it; I would hold open houses; etc.

I've never had that question asked but I think it's a good one and we whould be able to give a resoudning YES with some reasons why. HOw about brining this question up yourself and answering it?
So did you get the listing?
Jeff
Here's how I would answer that question:
While I absolutely without hesitation would hire myself I would never want to work for a person like me. I'm incredibly demanding, expect perfection, and my standards are impossibly too high.
And the funny thing is that would be the truth.
Great question and ABSOLUTELY I would hire myself! It is the same reason - I am extremely knowledgable on the content matter and truly go out of my way to help as well as protect my client throughout the process. Most clients become friends too. :)
That's a great way to think about it, CT. Did they give you the listing? 8=) The way you deal with your clients, the advice you deliver, the professional care you take with your job and a host of other thing should be in the criteria. There will always be agents who have more experience and sales, but the total package is what sets you apart from the masses.
"Yes because we know our area. Yes because we take care of our clients. Yes because we know the process and bring a TON to the table. Yes, I would hire myself to be my Realtor. " I could not agree more!
Definitely! If I were someone else, I would hire me... Now working for ourselves is another question.
Jared - I would hire myself as I know that I do a good job for my clients and get the job done.
I would because I think I know my market better than any other agent around. Even those agents who have been in the business for many years.
Interesting question. Hadn't thought about that one before! But yes I would :)
Yes, I would hire myself. I have NO doubt! Thanks for a thought provoking post today.
My response would be yes and I do, and always have. Now your right to ask these questions, and you should, but now it is my turn to see if your qualified to become a client of mine. I know I will do my job and what I need to learn is will you do what is needed on your side so we both can have a successful sale. Now the presentation begins.
