Local EventsIn the Tysons Corner area, we like to get out of the house and have some fun. There are always plenty of things to do. This weekend will be time again to celebrate fall at our local Oktoberfest, which should be a great event. Oktoberfest will be held at the Charles Wesley United Methodist Church on Dean Drive in McLean on Saturday, October 20, 2012. Admission will be free. Sponsored by the United Methodist Women of the church, this will be a wonderful place to spend the day with the family for some great eats, shopping, and quality time. There will be something for everyone; there will be baked goods, crafts, and all the things people love about fairs. Lunch, which starts at 11 am, will be a banquet of bratwurst, sauerkraut, German potato salad, and hot dogs. There will be plenty of extras too, such as soft pretzels, chips, drinks, and desserts.

Head over to the Haycock Elementary PTA Fall Festival on Haycock Road, in Falls Church for more food, fun, shopping, raffles, and a special feature that adults will appreciate-- restaurant trucks! Admission for adults is free, admission for kids over the age of 2 is $8 and includes face painting, the giant slide, moon bounces, and unlimited games and activities.

If you like outdoor markets, just a few miles away in DC on Saturday, October 20th, is the DC MEET Market at the intersection of P Street and 15th Street, which will feature your favorite vendors, food, art, photography, crafts, toys, spa products, jewelry, many of your favorite Etsy vendors, and specialty booths. This will be your opportunity to do some early holiday shopping because there will be something for everyone, and this will be the last MEET Market of the year so you won't want to miss it.

If you're looking for an incredible place to send the kids during the week, try the After-school Mandarin & Soccer Club at the Children's Global Readiness Academy on Kirby Road in McClean. The kids get to participate in a fun program that focuses on developing  skills in children from two to twelve years old. There are interesting activities such as French, Mandarin Chinese, or Spanish language lessons, the arts, music, crafts, and soccer! Kids will also get help with their homework, and a healthy snack is provided. Various classes, schedules, and day care are available including Saturday classes. Choose and price the program that is just right.

There is never a dull moment and it is still a wonderful time of the year to go exploring, so come out and join us! To learn more about the benefits of living in Tysons Corner, visit http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/tysons/.
