YouTube Marketing

Teral McDowell brings to our attention the fact that we should be utilizing YouTube in our real estate marketing.  I am on board are you?  If not maybe you should re-think why not.

YouTube Thursdays - It’s All About You  Real Estate - Tools, Skills and RAINMAKERS!

picture of a guy shooting videoLast week I wrote a blog about promoting Rainmaker’s real estate videos much the same way that we promote Facebook Fan Pages. The response was not overwhelming which was somewhat puzzling to  me as my experience has always been that Rainmakers like helping one another. It’s community building which keeps many of us Rainmakers coming back year after year.

I had the opportunity to converse with Debb Janes, founder of the group. It was interesting to learn that promoting each others video channels was her original intent all along - only it hasn’t really happened at least not to the extent she had hoped it would be. We can make it happen.

So this week I have been thinking about video and why do people not like it or want to do it. We all have heard how important it is becoming to our real estate business. Speaking from my own experience I think it has to do with the time required just as much as the tools and skills..

Creating video can be time-consuming but it can also be quite fun. Or maybe you just don't think you have the skills or tools required. Let’s look at the first item of necessity - the tools. You obviously have to have a camera or a phone with a camera. Some smartphones can take great video and upload them with ease. I adore my smartphone camera in a pinch but a camera wins with me for shooting video - not that I have done it all that much - yet.

So here are the basic tools needed for shooting video -

    • camera
    • tripod
    • battery-life, a spare would be helpful
    • memory on camera
    • tripod

I went out on the internet to find a video to help explain the basic skills for shooting video. I found one - Video 101 - there’s a few good tips here if you haven’t seen it or you are new to video shooting.

Video 101: Shooting Basics from Vimeo Video School on Vimeo.

I’ve also found some fun in uploading a YouTube video with still pictures. The one shared here has to do with a neighborhood park. As a local Realtor® videos about the neighborhoods help people find me. There are so many tools online to help us with our videos - even YouTube has an editor.

If you would like to see some creative video shooting please be sure to check out Debb Janes video channel; she is one of the featured Rainmaker's in today's post by Donna Foerster. Thank you, Donna.

This blog was intended to provide you, the reader with some useful information on basic video blogging as well as highlight Rainmakers. If you found the information useful or entertaining please leave a comment below. Or if you want to get onboard with YouTube Thursdays be sure to write your own blog promoting you, friends and Rainmakers on YouTube Thursday.
