The Greatest Monument in America and we bet you've never heard of it.

By
Industry Observer

It is called the Monument to our Forefathers or the Monument to the Pilgrims. It stands as the tallest single piece of granite monument in the world at 81 feet. It was commissioned by our federal government, paid for by taxpayers without any argument whatsoever. It was meant to stand as a testament of what we are founded on and as a beacon for finding our way back should we ever stray from the course. It is our belief that it is there for such a time as this. We plan on visiting this monument sometime in the very near future.

We put this together as a half page filler in our next issue and you have the first chance to see it here.

Bob & Bonnie -- that is one national monument I was NOT aware of.  I will need to remember to go see it the next time I am in that area!  From your explanation - it must be very inspiring.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Wow, that is almost as offensive as the 10 Commandments in that courhouse.  They had to be removed, early one morning.  When will they be removing this offensive piece of history?

Steven: I wasn't either until the movie Monumental spilled the beans. It was quite compelling hearing the real story of the Pilgrims and what they endured to start this new country.

Mike: It sits in the middle of what is now, a Plymouth neighborhood and doesn't get much attention from the tourist business... you see there is nobody charging admission here. There is no money to be made from it.

Jay: As in the words of my favorite quarterback last week when asked if he had anything to say to his critics- "Ssshhhh."- Aaron Rodgers

There is so much inscribed on this monument and it really is a roadmap to prosperity for America if we all just humble ourselves and return to what made us great to begin with. It might not be popular to say but we really need to go back before we can go forward.

The 'separation of church and state' is a new thing. In the last 50 years or so it has been pushed to the forefront. No where does is it stated that church and state shall be mutually exclusive. It is simply stated that no religion shall be established by the government.

One more point I'd like to make here is the block on education. The creators of this monument, as described under the education buttress, specifically spelled out the need to educate our youth to the real founding Father of our nation, God and Christ. They wanted to memorialize how important it was to continue teaching, in our schools, about the love of Christ and how important it was to our foundation. How have we let that be totally reversed in the past century, I can not even fathom. But I was a consequence of that and I was left on my own to discover Him for myself as we all are now and have been for the last 100 years. The movie Monumental had a segment describing the keystone over the entrance to Harvard University founded in 1636. It's motto for many years was, in Latin was- "Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae" or Truth For Christ and the Church. Look up Harvard's history on their official website and you'll see it's not mentioned anywhere in their history... only Veritas... truth. They removed the truth from truth. Here is the truth:

Harvard University was founded in 1636 with the intention of establishing a school to train Christian ministers. In accordance with that vision, Harvard's "Rules and Precepts," adopted in 1646, stated (original spelling and Scriptural references retained):

"2. Let every Student be plainly instructed, and earnestly pressed to consider well, the maine end of his life and studies is, to know God and Jesus Christ which is eternal life (John 17:3) and therefore to lay Christ in the bottome, as the only foundation of all sound knowledge and Learning. And seeing the Lord only giveth wisedome, Let every one seriously set himself by prayer in secret to seeke it of him (Prov. 2:3).

3. Every one shall so exercise himselfe in reading the Scriptures twice a day, that he shall be ready to give such an account of his proficiency therein, both in Theoreticall observations of Language and Logick, and in practical and spiritual truths, as his Tutor shall require, according to his ability; seeing the entrance of the word giveth light, it giveth understanding to the simple (Psalm 119:130)."

The motto of the University adopted in 1692 was "Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae" which translated from Latin means "Truth for Christ and the Church." This phrase was embedded on a shield as shown to the right, and can be found on many buildings around campus including the Widener library, Memorial Church, and various dorms in Harvard Yard. Interestingly, the top two books on the shield are face up while the bottom book is face down. This symbolizes the limits of reason, and the need for God's revelation.

Consistent with "Veritas Christo et Ecclesiae" and the purpose of Harvard's founding, our fellowship is dedicated to discovering and experiencing Truth (Veritas) for the sake of Christ and his church.

Than: That would have been engraved in stone by the Supreme Court decision of 1947, Everson vs. School Board which opened the floodgates. This decision reversed hundreds of years of decisions and was groundbreaking as well as earth shattering in it's time and now we see the ramifications of that one rulling. I posted on that a while back and if I find it, I'll give the link here... and here. Keep getting the truth out there.
