Walnut Grove, CA 95690 - Giusti's Place (Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives)
Last weekend, we went on a motorcycle ride to the California Delta with another couple and Giusti's Place (pronounced "JUICE-tee's") in Walnut Grove was our lunch stop. We just came from Al the Wop's in Locke, where I had the best darn spicy Bloody Mary ever (with REAL horseradish!) and Giusti's Place was only a few minutes away. The driveway to Giusti's Place is on the left, right before the bridge.
It's quite a long driveway to Giusti's Place once you turn off of Walnut Grove-Thornton Road, but this sign reassured first-timers like us that we were indeed on the right path to Giusti's. :)
Not only can people come to Giusti's Place by car, truck, SUV or motorcycle, but they can also come by boat! The deck (where I took the photo below) is surrounded by mature fig trees and as of October 13th, the ones we tried were pretty sweet.
This is it: Giusti's, Hunters & Fishermans Paradise - Cocktails, Dinners, Boat Landing. Don't forget Lunch (which is served from 11:30am to 1:30pm Tuesday-Friday and till 2:00pm on weekends).
This is the bar area that greets you as you enter. If you look at the photos on the wall (to the right) you will see that there have been some pretty famous visitors to Giusti's Place!
No one was playing during the time we were there, but there is a bumper pool table in the bar at Giusti's Place!
The dining room at Giusti's Place is just as I imagined...small, cozy and inviting with a "homey" Italian family style feel. Their menu is posted on the wall, with a limited selection of tried and true dishes that changes daily. We each ordered something different - stuffed bell pepper, burger, beef brisket and lasagna.
All lunches at Giusti's Place come with soup or salad and even a glass of red or white wine. I had red wine (excellent) and Minestrone soup, which was the best I've ever had!
My lasagna was absolutely perfect...I couldn't have asked for a better meal to go with my red wine!
Bob had the beef brisket, which was tasty and melt-in-your-mouth moist. Yummy!
Of course, I had to photograph Giusti's souvenir framed picture from being featured on Guy Fieri's Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives...that was the main reason I chose them to be our lunch destination!
Giusti's Place is open Tuesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner (Wednesday is 2-for-1 Lobster Night and Thursday is Italian Night). They don't take credit cards, so bring cash or be ready to use their ATM machine.
