Want to Walk on Water?

Then come to the Potomac River just west of Chain Bridge.  The algae is so think that it could probably support a real estate professional who wanst to try to walk on water.  And it's not real attractive.

Wow that is some serious buildup. I think I will pass on walking on water. If it failed, you would be covered in that green slime.

Hi Pat, I thought it was interesting that you thought the muck could support a real estate agent, LMAO. Is is possible that it could have come from some of the politicians that must have been bathing there , LOL

The algae found on the tops of ponds and slow moving areas of rivers and streams this time of the year are normal and beneficial to the ecology of the watershed.

Algae are one of the lower forms of life in the foodchain, feeding the next highest order and eventually on up the foodchain to the fish, which are quite healthy and prolific in that part of the Potomac River.

That charistic "green" color is simply cholorophyl.

Thats funny....but sad.  Obviously something likes living there or it wouldn't be soooooo green.

Hmmm, I hope that's a normal part of the cycle and will be gone soon. Not very attractive to us humans.

We have several ponds around here that look like you can walk across them.  I don't think I would want to eat any fish that might come out of these.

Thanks for sharing your photograph. I have seen several ponds with the same issue.

Have a great day and an outstanding week. Enjoy the colors of autumn with your camera in hand.
