Scary Time of Year? When asked this question many people would say tax day in April, not in October. That is unless you were young and your imagination was still not yet stifled. A time when goblins and ghosts and superheros and reality stars can all still be believed. Halloween is a magical time of year with a long and varied history. The giving of sweet treats was begun years ago as an effort to ward off the neighborhood children doing tricks to the house on that night. It was a shakedown.
So of course wearing of costumes was a must. Today we have children out in our neighborhoods wearing this years costume or last years, or one their mom made at your doorstep.
There is an innocence and joy to this evening, and a real big sugar high. I remember my son’s last romp around the neighborhood collecting candy. The evening had somehow morphed into how fast they two tweeners could run and who could gather the most candy by number-not weight.
It what exhausting and a great memory all at the same time. Whether you are a first time home buyer or looking to find a new home, give me a call. I know all the houses with the best treats.

Living in S. Florida, you miss the sense of the temp. change due to the season. You know it's coming by the date, not the weather.
Halloween has become a tradition in our home. I sit out on the driveway and pass out candy. My wife takes the grandchild on a romp around the neighborhood. Soon that too will pass and maybe it will just be me sitting on the driveway and passing out candy. Enjoy your day!
Hi Larry, made us remember the time only a few years ago we took our granddaughter trick or treating. Much scarier than when we were kids!
@Bob, I was huffing and puffing trying to stay up with those boys that last year. I was even rounding the corners and didn't have to go to the door and collect the candy. Funny thing is, my son has no sweet tooth, all that sugar went in his parents, who have no aversion to the white death of sugar.
@Winston I know, I felt that way the 5 years I lived in San Francisco. I do love the change of seasons and the change of clothes.
@Wayne I know the feeling. We are headed to our son's final Parent College Weekend. End of an era. What will we do next year? Keep tuned.
Halloween can be a really fun time and not at all scary. I hope you have a fun time tomorrow night!
