The tips below are to help you get your home ready for showings by potential buyers.

1. First Impressions - Make sure your lawn is mowed and the front porch is inviting. Buy a potted plant and place it by the front door. First impressions are very important and leave a lasting memory.

2. Clutter - If your house is cluttered and overfilled, potential buyers won't be able to see past the clutter to what the house could offer them. It makes the home look smaller and suggests a lack of storage space. Remove excessive furniture and take everything off the kitchen countertops. Potential buyers want to see the house, not your furnishings.

3. Light & Bright - For a showing, open all the blinds and turn on all the lights. It gives an open feel that people are looking for.

4. Interior Touch-ups - The paint color you love might not be what potential buyers are looking for. Neutral colors are always best to use and rooms can be transformed with a fresh coat of paint. Don't give a potential buyer an excuse not to buy your home because of a paint color.

5. Carpet - Make sure your carpet is clean and no stains. Carpet cleaning services do a good job of making carpet look fresh and new again. If someone thinks your carpet needs to be replaced, it can take thousands away from your bottom line.

6. Clean - Make sure your home is clean and neat at all times. You never know when an agent and buyer might ask to come over. If you need a little extra help cleaning, you can always call a cleaning service.
