Grant Funds Available for Professional Educators in Texas
The state of Texas still has funds available in the form of grants for our professional educators, who may need down payment or closing costs assistance to purchase their Dream Home. These funds may be obtained by meeting certain criteria and qualifications with an approved lender at a very low interest rate of 3.75 percent.
The Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation(TSAHC) provides 30-year fixed rate mortgage loans to eligible homebuyers wishing to achieve the American dream of homeownership through a network of participating lenders across the state. This Texas Teacher Home Loan Program does have a few changes.
1. There is no longer a First Time Home Buyer Requirement to use this program. You may not currently own a home, but you do not have to wait 3 years after a previous ownership.
2. There is no longer a “recapture tax” if you sell in the first year.
3. There are still some income limitations.
