My TEXAN Realtor, are ALL TEXANS like this? ~ my Relocation Story
Working with Relocation Buyers this past week we have looked at almost 40 homes and it makes me think back to my experience of relocating here to Spring, Texas (Houston area) 10 years ago.
Searching for homes on the internet was a new thing and I did email at least 10 Realtors asking them questions about the homes they had listed and there was only ONE person who got back in touch with me. This was a husband and wife team, she contacted me right away and sent me other homes in that area that met my criteria. I had one weekend to buy a home so we set up the appointment to look at homes.
While writing up the contract at her office I met her husband and he is exactly what I "used to think of Texas!".
WOW ... he had the big mustache and the boots. Their marketing "The .... Gang" The Most Wanted Realtors!
He told me that when he works with a buyer he picks out 10 homes that meet their criteria and if they don't find their house in those 10 homes "They are too picky to work with!"
He told me if someone is breaking into your home you can shoot them but just make sure you drag them in all the way into your house! (maybe my eyes popped out of my head on this one ... I am from Oregon).
I now have a quite different view of Texas and really LOVE it!!!! There is such a blend of people here from all different states, countries and walks of life. The people are warm and friendly for the most part. Yes, occasionally (very, very rarely in The Woodlands) will you see someone and think "THAT is what a Real Texan looks like!".
But yes, my "first experience" with Texas still makes me chuckle, especially now that I am in Real Estate!
