RISK, REAL ESTATE, where are you?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with CastNet Realty TREC#263257

There comes times in everyone's life when you are at a crossroads with decisions to make.  You know one path leads in one direction and the other path in the opposite direction.  Which path to take?

Sometimes you can take one path and if it doesn't work out, you can switch to the other path.  But then, there are those times you must decide one or the other and you know there will be no turning back.

Which path to choose?  Which way to go?  Decisions, decisions.                            REALTOR

Many brokers faced this dilemma a few years ago with the recession coming on. They could see it would be lean times for a while and with the uncertainty of better times for a long distance in the future.  Which way to go?

Agents faced the same dilemma.  Many chose to leave the profession and find another job with the intent on returning when things got better.  Others left completely.  Still others chose to weather the storm, knowing real estate is cyclical and good times would return.

Today, things are getting better in the market.  Homes are selling faster and for a little more money in some markets.  So, agents that left several years ago are returning.  Some are facing the question, do I leave this new job or do I stay here.  Newbies are coming in just not as rapidly as in years past.

Yes, real estate and commission sales means RISK.  Are you suited for risk?  Rewards are geared toward risk.  Those that are prepared when the markets turn will be in the advantage point.  Are you there?

We are and standing strong in good times and bad times.  We're here when you need us!

It is always the case.  Agents leave in bad times and come back in good times.

Working in a career without a guaranteed income does come with risks for sure, but those of us who are prepared will survive just fine.

Ricki: What a great explanation of RISK.

It would be wonderful if we lived in a RISK-FREE WORLD, but we both know that is not possible. Each individual has to find a balance and do what is best for them.

I still believe home ownership is a good investment. Those that left would be welcomed back; those of us that made it through the storm are steps ahead.

Have to hit the Suggest button.

Have a great week.

Ricki,

The way I see it is we have way too many agents at least in the Houston area and pruning the group is good for all. If one is not ready for taking risk then they should not have made Real Estate their career choice.

Ricki-Nothing worth having comes without risk. In real estate, it helps to have a cushion when one first gets in the business I think.
