Don't Dump Garbage In NM Waters
Don't Dump Garbage In NM Waters
Robert Gilbert reminds us that we only get one chance to take care of Mother Earth. NM's ponds, lakes and Rio Grande are not dumping grounds. We should remember they are not dumping grounds rather homes for our NM wildlife.
Pond with Wildlife is not a Garbage Dump
The Office building where my full time job as a CPA resides is in Cypress Texas and is just northwest of Houston. I drive through this area almost every day. I am very familiar with the whole area and I definitely will work the entire area for my real estate clients.
Behind the building I work at is a small pond. I am not sure if this was man made many years ago or whether it has been there as part of the natural topography. I have been seeing many baby ducks in the pond now for several weeks and I keep making a mental note to take the time for photographing the wildlife.
This past Friday was absolutely a beautiful day as the weather was close to perfect for this area. After meeting with my boss at his office I remembered I wanted to take pictures of the ducks. I grabbed my camera and ran down to take pictures. I was not disappointed as there are birds, ducks, fish, baby fish, several different breeds of ducks, ducklings, turtles and I am sure many other wildlife that make that small pond their home.
I also found to my horror numerous plastic bags many which had been used as bags to hold groceries or household goods have been thrown into the water and there was a lot of other just garbage also thrown in the water. Really folks what the H--- are you thinking. I know you are either too stupid to think or you just do not give a darn. Throw your trash into a garbage can and not in the water. These plastic bags are probably killing some of the wildlife as I am writing this blog. I would have fished this crap out but the problem stuff was too far off the shore for me to reach. Many local residents and their children come to that pond to see the wildlife and feed the ducks.
I have a long pole with a net on the end that we use for our pool. My old Ford Expedition will allow the pole to be loaded but right now the battery is dead and I can not get the battery holder off as it is rusted. AAA maybe my only alternative. Once I get this battery issue solved I will drive out their and get as much of this crap out of the water. It is about a 45 minute drive one way.
