Debbie, some good choices for going green with flooring material. Good information!
Good morning Debbie -
Thanks for another great post of flooring and the fact that it can be found and used going Green. I noticed while back east most of the homes there have beautiful hardwood flooring of all types. My In Laws home was all hardwood they said they love it. It was easy to clean up after the grand-kids messes.
Debbie, recently I saw some woven strand bamboo that was just gorgeous - it looked exactly like any other hardwood. I like that choice because it is green as well, but cork for the kitchen is also another excellent choice!
Sharon
Hi Debbie,
I love your choices. There is something there for everyone.
Hi Debbie, love the linoleum look these days-it's a great option for kitchens and can be done in so many fun patterns.
A great post Debbie, can I re-post it on SnappyGreen.com in Fairfield, Connecticut?
Thanks for the information. I am down here on Marco ISalnd in South West Florida and we seeing a trend in people removing carpet and tile and installing hard wood.
Those all look so great! These are great options and really good to keep in mind down the road, thanks!
Debbie I have carpeting in most of the rooms in my house right now, but as I replace it, it will be with wood floors. I wish I had done wood floors to start with.
Thanks, Debbie,
as always-- very educational.
Have a great day!
Debbie, We will be replacing living areas from carpet to wood after the holidays. I never heard of cork flooring before, would you recommend it only for kitchen?
Great info! I'm really attracted to marmoleum flooring for kitchens/baths especially - any pros and cons there that you can share??
I haven't walked on cork flooring before, it sounds interesting. Certainly would be unique. Easy to clean?
I can totally vouch for the wool carpet vs. petroleum-based carpet. I drink red wine and have spilled it more than once on wool and there is NO evidence since we put club soda on immediately and then carpet cleaner.
Debbie -- thanks for your informational post on the better "green" alternatives. The one caveat on wool rugs, is that it may last longer than you want to keep it.
Great information Debbie! I want to reblog this so local readers of my blog have access to your post.
Deb, great Eco- friendly options, and the materials and effects are so diverse.
A couple years ago, a neighbor developed allergies, that she couldn't seem to overcome. However, in August, they removed the carpeting in their home and installed hardwood, as part of a home improvement project. The unexpected side-effect of all that, was the neighbor's allergies disappeared. And, their floors are gorgeous!
I really love that kind of flooring. It is nice to have that flooring.
Louise - thank you so much!
