Evening Street Elementary School gets an A+ for the 2011- 2012 school year!  Or the preliminary report card for Evening Street Elementary is  "Excellent with Distinction."  Excellent with Distinction is the highest grade or report card bestowed by the Ohio Department of Education.

Is an "A+" the way to describe the rating from the Ohio Department of Education?  To use grades* that most of us are more familiar with:

  • A+ is  Excellent with Distinction
  • A is Excellent
  • B is Effective
  • C is Continuous Improvement
  • D is Academic Watch
  • F is  Academic Emergency

* The Columbus Dispatch used the familiar letter score in the headline of the October 18, 2012 article about the preliminary report cards finally being released.  There is a link to the Columbus Dispatch in Central Ohio school districts preliminary report cards for the 2011 - 2012 school year. but not to that headline. Darn.  There is a quote of the article headline.  One of the local TV newscast referred to an "Excellent with Distinction" report card as "an A+" on October 17, 2012

The Worthington City School District received a preliminary "Excellent with Distinction" report card. 

The Worthington City School District site says "Preliminary Results Indicate Excellent with Distinction" for the Worthington City School Disctrict  and concludes "ODE will not publish the Local Report Cards until the investigation by the Auditor of State is concluded..."
