Searching for a Silver Spring, MD home? A matter of minutes or weeks.

The search for the perfect Silver Spring, MD home, it's a matter of minutes for some and weeks for others.

There are those Silver Spring, MD area home-buyers who know as soon as I open the front door that they are stepping into their new home. It's that instant feeling of this is the one that just grows as we walk through the house and they discover all that makes this home so special.

Some buyers only need to take a quick look around while others need to check out every nook and cranny, upstairs and down and back up again, sitting down at the kitchen island/front porch swing/back patio lounge to see if it fits .. and perhaps return for a second or third look.

Some Silver Spring home buyers fall in love with the first house they see, others need to kiss a lot of frogs enter through a lot of doors until they find the one.

There is no right or wrong way to go about this!

It doesn't matter if it is the first house you see or the 20th, whether you just a need a minute to decide or need to take your time... I will adjust my pace to yours and open as many doors as it may take.

You will know that you have found your new home: when you are excited about seeing the house, can't wait to step inside, can envision yourself living there, are arranging furniture in your head and have little to no doubts (I do say little b/c sometimes it's just impossible to find flawless perfection) and you don't like the thought of somebody else buying it and moving in instead of you!

On a side note, inventory in Silver Spring, MD is at a much lower level and well-priced homes in outstanding showing condition do sell fast(er) again. Sometimes taking a week to consider or sleeping on it one too many nights could mean another buyer will be moving into your dream home. If there is that much hesitation, however, it usually means that it is not the one.

Hi Andrea, I was just saying this to a client yesterday. You're soooo right, a buyer KNOWS the home they want to live in when they walk through those doors. We can video a home..or send pictures to an out of state client..but I wish we could bottle "feelovision"..cuz that is what moves most to buy.

Hi Cindy, "feelovision" that sums it up perfectly! Can I steal that from you? I love it when I can tell as well and don't even need to ask whether or not this is the one!

We all buy differently don't we... Takes Debbie and I a full day just to make decisions in the grocery store.  You should have seen us deciding on which home to purchase.  We agreed we'd HATE to be our Realtor®.... LOL

Andrea - This is a fantastic post! The home buying process is different for everyone. I've had people who have found the right home upon opening the first door -- but they feel like they're doing something wrong if they move ahead.  I've asked clients if they would bypass their soulmate because he/she was their first date...  ;-)   When it's right, it's right.  I just ask that you have some sort of focus so we do narrow the frog pond a bit.  :-)

Thanks Brenda! Love your response and so true. When it's right, it's right. I always ask how they would feel if someone else were to buy the home.
