If you're like me, you're trying to shed those pesky pounds that crept up on us during the holidays (in my case, they're the same pounds I gained two years ago!!). I've started a weightloss program with my mother as my teammate/support and I've managed to lose 5 pounds over the course of the past two weeks. That's pretty good and I'm pretty proud of myself. I've learned a few little tricks over the years that seem to be helping me this time around and I thought I would share them with you.
Water - I know we've all heard it a million times "drinking lots of water helps curb your appetite". Funny, water doesn't taste anything like pizza. Alas, it does help a little. I try to drink as much water as I can while at work. I notice that when I'm constantly hungry, I can usually link it to the fact that I haven't had enough water. Funny how that works.
Smaller Plates - I try to eat my meals in smaller dishes so it seems like I have a full plate. I don't notice the difference and I don't eat more than I need to.
Crustless?? - Even just removing the crust from your sandwich can save you a lot in the long run. A bread's crust is approximately 1/4 of the bread. So the next time your having a sandwich, take the crust off. You save yourself some calories, not to mention the carbohydrates.
Stairs - I work on the second floor in my building. I used to take the elevator up and down everyday, sometimes several times in a day. Now, I take the stairs. It's just a quick trip but will pay off in the long run. ;)
