"Are you green and growing or ripe and rotting? "

I DON'T BELIEVE THAT MCDONALDS WAS THE FIRST.  IT WAS THE BEST MARKETED.

Actually, McDonalds wasn't the first to serve "assembly line" burgers.  I recall the little White Tower restaurants in my area years before McDonalds was a household word.

McDonalds was better marketed.

A good lesson for real estate agents and brokers.

Ray Kroc was the businessman who built McDonalds into the huge success that it is. In his early 50s, he found a small hamburger joint being run by the McDonald brothers. The McDonalds made their hamburgers in an assembly line fashion, and offered only a few items on their menu - but the items they offered were great.

Growing Sunflower

Kroc saw the possibilities of this business model and bought the exclusive rights to their business model and began spreading the model around the Country. He began selling franchises to McDonalds, and eventually McDonalds became the first fast food company to publicly sell stock. When Kroc died in 1984, McDonalds had been the largest food supplier in the country for nearly twenty years and a new McDonalds was opening on average every 17 hours.

Kroc once said, "As long as you're green you're growing. As soon as you're ripe, you start to rot." To that end, I'd like to think of those of us here in the Rain as constantly growing. We're all open to learning, eager to spread our wings and expand our horizons, or else we wouldn't be here. Kroc made that his mantra, expanding his business and evolving with the changing times through decades of successes. It's my mantra now.

Hi Lenn.  I love this phrase and not heard it before.  Thanks.  "As long as you're green you're growing. As soon as you're ripe, you start to rot."

Conrad.  So do I but never thought of it in terms of a property.

Yes, excellent point.  And, there are many examples of this (e.g. Zima vs. Mike's Hard Lemonade).

Debbie.  The early bird doesn't always get the worm.  I was on the Internet long before Z, R.com, etc.  However, their vast database and resources for linkbacks will always put them ahead of me.
