Kiteboarding on Maui's North Shore

 

I was over my friends house in Spreckelsville and I look out the window and this guys was tearing it up on his Kiteboard. Kiteboarding is the cousin of windsurfing on Maui.  Places like Spreckelsville and Kanaha Beach Park are popular destination to windsurf on Maui and for kiteboarders.

It's amazing to watch these athletes. I hadn't heard of kite boarding when one day I was driving south on Highway One, and rounded a corner along a bluff above Waddell Beach and saw scores of kite surfers! A beautiful, thrilling sight.

I like they way you play on Maui's North Shore!

Barrie and I had an opportunity to watch some of thse flying kiteboarders on Georgian bay here in Ontario a few years ago ..... simply amazing!

Water sports on Maui are a big deal, windsurfing, kiting and surfing.  We have a windsurf contest trying to get under way as soon as the wind picks up.
