KeysOk, here's what happened.  My wife came by the office today to change vehicles with me.  I drive a dual cab Toyota Tundra and she drives a Chrysler Crossfire.  She was picking up friends at the airport.  Forgetful

So, she comes by the office, trades vehicles, and gives me the keys to the Crossfire.  I know she gave them to me.

Well, I'm in the midst of closing my brokerage and merging with RE/MAX Gulfstream Realty.  My office is a mess as I pack and clean out junk I've accumulated the last 7 years. This evening I did some throw out several boxes of trash.

I was leaving the office about 8:45 p.m and couldn't find the keys to the Crossfire.  I've looked everywhere that I can think.  Maybe I threw them out with the trash.  Maybe they are in the dumpster.  Fortunately, my son was with me and he gave me a ride home.

It's 9:25 and I'm waiting for my wife to get home. She's gonna love this.

Where the %*#$@ are those keys? Is it the stress?

UPDATE 1/23/08: My wife got home last night and I told her I couldn't find the keys and that she would need to drive me to the office this morning.  She was a little aggravated with me as you might expect.

Then she discovered that she had unconsciously picked up the keys when she left my office.  She had the keys all the time.  We had a good laugh!!

Dan - Yikes!  I hope you find them.  And yes, it is probably the stress.

Yea I hope he finds them also before he does something drastic.

Sounds like stress to me. If it makes you feel any better, we all lose our keys. :-)

Dan - I want you to remember the parking portion of The Secret. On your way into the office tomorrow I want you to concentrate on nothing more than the FACT that when you arrive you will be putting your hands immediately on those keys. I know it will work.

Nope - not me!

Stress? Stress? What, me worry?

I mean I COULD add to it but need I?

We're all on the edge. I just came out with the "Best Loan Assurance Program" - just another name for what we've always done. The market WILL turn. In the mean time even the honest people with the highest integrity, best game plans and most invested are struggling. Just another reason for Active Rain members to stick together.

I have mentioned that we are licensed in Florida, right? ;)

To ALL - I just added an update.  My wife got home and I told her I couldn't find the keys and that she would need to drive me to the office this morning.  She was a little aggravated with me as you might expect.

Wait until you have the SAFE MLS tool on your key ring. Then when you lose your keys, not only can you not leave, but it is much harder to work as well.

Good luck with the move.

Dan,

Funny ..... you can't find the keys... you're all stressed out about it.... what to do?... I know.... write a post!!!  You need to relax dude.  You have alot to do.... but it will get done.  Will stressing and fretting about what has to be done help you get it done?  Only negative will come from that.  Step back and take some deep breathes buddy.  I'm a bit worried about you.

DAN - Not being able to find my keys is one of the most frustrating things that I go through.  I'm glad that you found yours.  I may have laughed, but I would have been annoyed with my wife at first.  You're a good guy.

Hey Dan! Don't just love the stress that you can laugh at later?  Well, it was kind of funny. I bet she apologized profusely and laughed her aaa off.

There you go! I knew you would find them quickly - perhaps not as I imagined, but find them you did. Well done.

Kevin - That sounds expensive too.

Martin - Thanks for the encouragement.  I'm usually the giver of encouragement, but right now I need to receive a bit.

Ruth - Haven't we all?

Adam - I also remember looking for my glasses when I actually had them on....crazy.

Dianne - You are right.

Sally - My wife and I have laughed about this a few times.

Simon - Thanks, buddy.

Hang in there buddy!  You KNOW the secret.... just remember!!!

Dan - It's all that multi-tasking--it takes a toll on us for sure.  It happens. Slow down, stay in the moment and keep your eye on the prize--you'll soon be settled in your new office.

Last December I combined a listing appointment with a Toys for Tots shopping trip and previewing a new listing for a buyer--it was a crazy afternoon--lost my keys somewhere in Target and had to wait 2 hours until they were turned in.  Meanwhile, my son had a locksmith let him in to my house and was on his way to meet me with the spare set of keys.  See, your experience was not so bad.

Martin - Thanks for the encouragemeht.

Norma - Your misfortune made me feel better.  Is that bad?

01/25/2008 04:33 AM by Bradenton Florida Real Estate - Dan Forbes (Sarasota Metro Properties)

Dan - no not at all, that's why I shared it with you (and the world).  It's now one of the funny stories I relate to others when they worry they may be having a senior moment!  That's what happens when we try to jam two days of work into four hours of time.
