Lake Ridge Virginia-Fish Out

It isn’t often that you see an event being planned in the community and it makes you think of a Dr Seuss book. However the latest event being planned by the Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association is a “fishing trip.”

Trip might actually be a bit of a misnomer. Actually the fish are going to be in the Ridgewood swimming pool. Yes you read that correctly. The association is going to fill the pool with 700 rainbow trout and for $7.00 per person you can drop a line and catch your limit (of two). Now as someone who has a tendency to sea sickness the idea of fishing in a swimming pool has some appeal. However, as someone who really likes to swim I’m hoping that the pool gets a good scrubbing after the fishing party is over.

The fishing event doesn’t happen until March which is a good thing as I would assume otherwise you would be fishing for Mrs. Paul’s Fish Sticks. For families and the die hard anglers who can't wait until the ice thaws on the lakes it should be a fun event. If you like in Lake Ridge or the surrounding Prince William County area keep your eyes open for more information on the Ridgewood Pool Fish Out event coming in March.

That is really funny!  I hope you get some pictures of that for us all to see.  Also, my nephew, down your way, likes fishing so let us know the details as it gets closer.

What about the chlorine?

Martin-I'm assuming since the pool is empty for the winter that they are not going to put the fish in chlorine.  This was just one of the local events that caught my attention and made me smile.  I think the little kids will absolutely have a blast being able to catch a real fish!

At the end of the swim season, our community invites the Dogs of our neighborhood to a pool party...but this takes it to a whole new level.  What a cute idea.

Cindy, Seriously...  You have to post pictures after this event.  I just told my husband about this (he is a diehard fisherman) he can't imagine the cleanup that will be necessary.  Please...  post pictures!

Okay.  I will try and make sure that I get some good shots.  I can't imagine how much scrubbing it will take to get the pool clean and ready to pass the county health inspections.

I think this sounds like so much fun...and how great...I would do it!  While  vacationing in Colorado and with limited time...I wanted to fish...we went fishing at a fishing camp...I had a blast!  I have to agree with you and I am sure they will do a good job in cleaning out that pool!

Keep us posted!

Midori-I had a friend that I visited in Idaho who had his own trout ponds.  We went fly fishing for dinner.  Not to tough when they are a "captive" audience.  I'm sure this event will have a huge turnout.

This is so funny!  What about chlorine in the pool?  That could make the fish taste just awful!

Patricia-I'm assuming that the pool will have been completely emptied before they put the before fish in.  Otherwise it would kill them.  Or it could be a bad Food Lion advertisement.  Do you remember the chlorine fish scandal?

This is great!  And I love your graphic.  Is this a fundraiser, or just a recreational event?

Cindy, sounds like a fun and creative event.  700 fish in a pool.  Sounds to me like the rainbow trout are going to be packed in like sardines.

Brian-I don't think they will put all of them in at once?  I'm sure someone could take a net and grab one without using the cheese, marshmellow or worms that a trout will go aftern.
