The Biggest Mysteries of this Presidential Race

By
Industry Observer

The few things that I feel should have made this election a slam dunk for Mitt Romney:

1. The whisper to Medvedev saying hang in there, that after the election the president will have more flexiblity. Add that to Putin openly endorsing the President should have been the kiss of death. Russia has opposed us in every single UN proposal and has stood with our enemies at every turn. Simply removing missles in Europe netted us nothing but more weakness.

2. Having both Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez openly endorse the president should be another kiss of death.

3. The whisper off mic of President Obama saying to the president of France about how he has to deal with Netanyahu every day after Sarkozy was heard to slam Israel and their PM. But he says in the debates how he will stand with Israel... which is it?

4. The economy and the direction of it. "It's the economy stupid."

5. The lack of a passed budget for 3 years now. Of course we know it's not possible when the whole government now needs to borrow every single dollar for operating. It is a fact that if you closed the doors of every single government department, we'd still have to borrow a few dollars to operate. I don't care whose fault it is, who is better at managing money in the next 4 years??

6. Obamacare. We need healthcare reform but without Tort reform, it's just throwing mud on the pig hoping it will stop squealing... it's still a dirty pig.

Those are just the most loud and telling things about what we can expect in the next 4 years. It reminds me of Germany in the 1930's, going along with the strongest sounding speaker promising the most to the least. We know how that turned out except Volkswagen is still going strong. I pray this country wakes up to smell the coffee in the next 2 weeks and stops listening to the commercials. There is even more at stake now than before.

As I'm an avid Green Bay Packers fan and they won the Super Bowl 2 years ago with a team that had lost an unprecedented 16 players to injured reserve, meaning those players were out for the season... yet they still won it all with one motto..."Next man up!"  I believe we should listen to our president when he said, "If I can't do what I say I will do in the next 4 years, it will be a one term thing." I harbor no ill will towards our president only that he didn't do the job well enough to warrant 4 more years. At the end of 4 more, the only thing to save us might just be another world war, it seems to be the only thing that pulls us together into The United States of America. Let's not wait for that to happen.

I'm Bob Horning, I love Jesus first and foremost and I approved of this message. And I trust that God will let happen what is best for us, I just pray it's Blessings and not curses. God please forgive us and Bless us again.

I think if you look at who and how people vote it is easy to see the trends. I think the President will win...but if you watch the debates every time one candidate bashes the other the trends drop like a rock. It is surprising to me but it seems the negative ads for the first time are not working for either candidate...and Romney seems to have noticed this first.

The only thing I know is that in 10 days or so it will be over and when we wake up on the day after the election the sun will shine the birds will sing and life will be pretty much as it has been on the day before the election no matter who wins

Jeff, Thanks for chiming in.  I don't watch those debates, I prefer to watch C-Span so I don't see those trends. And I believe you are most likely right in your prediction. We will need to rely solely on our Lord if that should happen since I doubt we'll survive with the additional costs for doing business it will cause. I guess we're one of those millionaires talked about. But why can we only afford one car... old one at that, no insurance, no big screen TVs, no cell phones... etc... if we are. We don't live with debt... and it's not so easy when you live within your means. Which reminds me of another point... 7. Food and gas prices!

Charlie, You are correct. I feel for others who don't know that. I'm just perplexed by the trend of our country. We are so far removed from our Constitution now that I'm not sure there is a way back to it.

Are you upset at the things being said or the fact that it was over-heard?

1. Because we have disagreements with Russia doesn't mean that we shouldn't negotiate with them. Didn't Reagan offer bi-lateral disarmament?

2. Yes, and radical right-wingers endorse Romney...I don't understand the correlation.

3. It's no secret that Obama and Netanyahu do not get along...and apparently other world leaders don't like him either.

4. I was just reading an article about how close we were from another "Great Depression." Saying 'it could have been a whole lot worse' might not be a good sound-bite, but none-the-less, it's true.

5. I agree...we need a budget.

6. Law suites make up a tiny fraction of the health care budget, but I wouldn't opposed to some sort of tort reform.  But the provisions within ObamaCare will save lives, money and help stop hundreds of thousands of personal bankruptcies due to medical bills.

The “Obama phone” program the woman in the video is touting doesn’t give out free phones to minorities. And it wasn’t started by President Obama. And this rumor isn’t new. It was started in 1996 and continued through Bush. There is free phone assistance available to those who qualify but it is not an Obama administration program. Taxpayers do support the program but not through federal income taxes. And despite the screaming lady in the video, eligibility doesn’t hinge on Social Security, disability or food stamps; there’s no “buy one bag of chips, get an Obama phone free” promotion. Just because a woman holding a sign gets a microphone in her face doesn’t make her statements true.

Wa Wa Waaaaa - Liberals are crying now because Obama is shown as a complete failure in everything he promised in that Hope and Change Campaign - the earth didn't heal and the waters didn't rise to meet him at his self exalted state!

Hey Karl: 1. Things said, if it wasn't a big deal to say what he said, why wouldn't he say it on the record instead of on the sly? 2. Only country leader I know of who has openly endorsed Romney- Netanyahu much to the chagrin of his people. Name another. 3. It's because he believes in the Bible and there aren't many left in the world. Again, if he wasn't being sly... why not say it for all to hear? It's no different than Bush calling a man in the crowd an a**h*** except that man wasn't a world leader. 4. Four more years of this and that ought to do it. The only difference now would be that not nearly as many people have the foundation of God that our country shared back in the depression so it won't be nearly as civil out there as it was then. Make no mistake we are no different than Greece, it's just going to take longer to reach that point since we're talking much bigger numbers. (Aside: It's the same reason socialist ideas of government supplied everything works better in a small country like Denmark but not in America, the numbers are just so much larger and it leads to an exponential amount of waste, fraud and deceit.) 5. Agreed but no longer possible. 6. You mean law suites like Dewey, Cheatem and Howe's penthouse offices? Seriously, Obamacare will save money?? That reminds me of when Bonnie used to go shopping during sales so we could save money! How exactly does spending money save money? I know, I know the talking points. Have you talked to any healthcare professionals lately? All the doctor and admin people I know in the industry are exasperated learning of all this bill entails and they tell me they still don't know the half of it yet. This healthcare bill is the death to healthcare as we know it according to friends I have who know. This isn't my opinion even though it will make me pay for something I don't receive nor want. You know my viewpoint on healthcare and who my provider is.

Lastly, the infamous Obamaphone. We volunteer at our local mission ministering to the homeless and poor. Everybody there has a phone. They have nothing else in the world but they have a cell phone. Very very few actually pay for their phones but there are some who are starting to work and they have their own plan. We know the parameters and requirements of the program and by the way this program serves the most richest man in the world with every phone given so let's not talk about which party serves the rich, they both do. We don't own a cell phone for the simple reason of the radiation dangers (if you know what's good for your prostate, don't keep them in your pockets or on your belt loops), the costs which I can't justify and not wanting one. I don't need one, I've lived without them, then with them and now again without them. I am much happier without one. Regardless of who came up with the program, it's a waste of money and not a necessity. What is accurate is that people in the projects, like this lovely woman, vote for whoever gives them the most stuff. They don't ever realize that they are imprisoned by their own government. And as for the video, I just thought it was funny and maybe she might pop up in the heads of those pulling the lever for Obama when they vote.

Thanks for the thoughtful response.

Should all conversations between leaders be public? The endorsement thing has no logic...now if Obama sought those endorsements and welcomed then, you might have something...but to hold Obama responsible in some way for what other leaders say is asinine. If you know the requirements for the phone, again NOT an Obama program, maybe you should've had a disclaimer.

What I find crazy is that we are just coming out of a mess that was created, in large part, by Wall Street and now we're thinking about putting a "Wall Street Guy" in the Oval Office....like I said, crazy.

The fact that to dictators endorse one candiate means they either think that candidate will support them or that candidate is like them. They feel 0bama will treat them better, give them more things and/or won't call them on their treatment of their peoples.

The biggest mystery for this presidential race is how Romney become the Republican candidate and how there are people supporting him when he is an Obama clone with no specific vision for the economy.

So what you're saying Than (and Bob) is that we should let foreign leaders influence American elections through their statements?

Bob, Thanks for the post. We certainly cannot afford four more years of what we just went through. Is Romney going to take Pennsylvania? Some polls have Tennessee pink but I promise you we are red!

Karl, No of course not, but when they are and it's blatant we need to listen. I didn't call it an Obamaphone, his supporters did.

Now that can of worms you just opened... All things happen in this country based on the laws written by our Congress. They open these doors and you expect people who are in the business of making money grow not to walk through them? How can you be in real estate and not know that allowing people with bad credit to buy homes was not a good idea and then sell these bad mortgages to others who are looking to make big profits themselves. You need to look at roots to problems not those who expose them. I believe that putting people who should be renters in homes was a pet project of Dodds, Frank and their buddies. Actually it was a slow progression of chipping away at the Glass/Steagall Act, most effectively of which was done during Clinton's years. So is it any crazier to keep putting lawyers in office who can't say a 3 word sentence without using 20 unnecessary words when the 3 will do? William Shakespeare was right many moons ago... let's kill all the lawyers... but let's be more hospitable and just retire them to their 100% pensions for life. Our military who put their lives on the line by comparison serve 20 years to receive around 50% pension.

Than, You said it well. It's a first that I can remember.

Satar, Sorry, but you are wrong. He definitely wouldn't have been my pick either but the man knows money and how to manage it. He also understands Godly principles that have never failed in the history of mankind. Every civilization that has adhered to God's principles has prospered and succeeded. Sadly, we have turned from it too. There isn't one problem facing America today that Jesus doesn't have an answer for.

Karl again: They already are.

Mike, I know we can't. There are three groups of people that I can't understand voting for this president a second time... Christians, Jews and Real Estate professionals. His viewpoint of family values (supporting gay marriage) and disdain for laws already on the books (DOMA) alone should prevent any Christian or Jew from pulling that lever.

I want to reiterate one more time that our government is not an answer for any of our problems in America. They are the problem. They will never have a solution that will last. If we're not part of the solution, we're a part of the problem. The One and Only answer to our problem is Jesus. We must return to faith, return to educating our youth of the wonders and love of God, we must return to our Creator. Even Ben Franklin, the least religious of all our founding fathers knew this fact as he pushed for prayer and looking for divine guidance each morning during the days of forming our Constitution. Please prayerfully seek Him and His wishes for America this election.

A lot of the foreign policy issues, nobody cares about unless we get attacked.  The economy, high prices, and no jobs is what gets people's attention. Granted "Obama phone" people worship the guy because he gives them lots of breadcrumb welfare.
