Sims Park in New Port Richey FL -The Heart of the Town
Sims Park located at Grand and Circle Boulevards was originally called Enchantment Park but was renamed in December 1924 to honor George R. Sims who was an early developer of New Port Richey. He donated the park and the clubhouse; his wife, Marjorie, was the first Chasco Fiesta queen.
The bandstand was built in 1925 for entertainment and politicking according to the book The Historic Places of Pasco County.
The West Pasco
Historical Society Museum
is located there also (the Historical Society renovated the two-room Seven Springs schoolhouse and moved it there.)
Sims Park has a wonderful childrens' playground, and a modern stage/bandshell for festivals that are held several times a year.
The Pithlachascotee River runs right by and through it with picturesque old trees over-hanging it's banks.
All the main events, festivals and entertainment takes place in and around Sims park - the heart of the town.
